I would pull the battery ground wire since you may have to disconnect the three hybrid buttons. I know I did when I installed my Alpine. Always disconnect your battery cable if you pull the head unit just to make sure you don't short the head unit if some cable is lose in the back.

Also if you pull anything close of an airbag or airbag light, just pull the battery cable so you don't have accidental deployment(I have seen rookie installers deploy there airbags accidentally at audio shops) and saves trips to the dealers/mechanic since they are the only ones that can reset the airbag warning lights.

Were you able to use your existing microphone?

No you will have to use an external bluetooth adapter or internal mic from the new HU.

Thank you for all pics and information. I have some questions on your install.

Did you attach the speed signal? Where did you find the wire to tap?

What camera did you install? The one for my head unit is $170, there is one with aspect correction for $270, and many for only about $30. I don't know which one to get.

Was the wiring in your picture for the usb to the glove box? I think the toyota usb kit has a replacement socket for aux/usb in console. I'd like to install there, but don't know what extra part(s) I may need.

The photo looks like you just mounted the mic next to the head unit. Does this work well? Do you like it better than on the steering column or sun visor?

I've bought a pioneer z110bt to install, I wanted the better ipod/iphone integration. I just need to pull the trigger on the scoshe, or wait for the metra. Your install looks great.

My sugesstion is to get the SCOSCHE I dont know when the Metra will be available and I dont think it will be as simple to install as the SCOSCHE. I had the UK template and the filler and could not get the alingment correct with the HU and the metal brackets you need to remove from the OEM HU.

I don't want the whole kit, just a good way to mount the usb socket.

If metra doesn't have a firm ship date by Monday that is what I'll do.
