The Advanced trim level has a more substantial construction for the cover.

Each state has their own regs about how much damage is needed for a car to be totaled, and whether that state has a procedure to "clean" the title so no one know it was ever totaled. Say a certain state says that if the damage is, say, 80% of the car's retail value then it must be declared a total loss by the insurance company. If the car is subsequently repaired it will have a branded title so one knows that it was declared a total loss at one time, or flooded, or whatever that state requires. Some states allow an inspection or other procedure where the branded title can be changed to one that is not branded, i.e., clean. You never know about the extensive damage and the quality of the repairs to "clean" the title.

Chris' totaled car became the property of the insurer, then they sold it to...maybe a dismantler or maybe someone who fixed it up and resold it, perhaps with a washed title.
