Make sure you check all your idler/tensioners. I found my valley idler slightly rough upon spinning it. There was no signs it was going, before I took it apart to do the timing belt change. You don't want something like that to snap your belt 20K-50K miles after the change. hope this helps....
It's v8 is certainly more of a beast than its other offerings. Do they put the V8 in the tundra anymore? Looking on the Google it shows some 400+ lb torque. Ford's 6.7 diesel has 1,000Lbs. Reminds me of what my high school geometry teacher used to sing, "everything's proportional - in its own way".
https://www.xtremediesel.com/blog/2021/09/01/what-is-a-cp4-pump-and-why-does-it-fail/ In short - they say metal shavings are put into Fuel system, turbo, and top end.
I can't expressed how PISSED I was when Toyota eliminated this awesome 5.7L V-8 from their lineup....that's insane! Then eliminated the V-6 from the Tacoma. Who the heck wants a 4-banger turbo? Not me....keeping this V-8 as long as possible. (I just wish she'd fit in my garage...she's the max crew cab.)
Thanks, my mechanic already has her apart and told me he found a few little things that should be replaced since he's already in there...just a few hundred for parts, same labor fee. I'll get the itemized list when I get her back. I gave him a new serpentine belt I picked up from my dealer and asked them to refill the coolant with Toyota Super Long life, not anything else....don't like mixing brands.
If it's a turbo diesel v6? Never presume all vV6s are the same. Our Sprinter class C motorhome is >10K lbs & can pull a small car, albeit not at 75mph flyin' uphill. .
Actually the straight 6 diesels was bullet proof. What would normally break was the injection pump or turbo, if so equipped.
I think I mentioned this about a month ago when it happened. My co-workers wife took her 2-year old Highlander to our Toyota dealership for an oil change and some guy jumped in it and drove off when the tech pulled into in the bay. The only two thing Toyota did for her was to give her a free rental car and refund what she paid for an oil change. But buying a replacement Highlander? Nope, didn't even come close to making up the difference...they are looking at suing the dealership....I sure would....HUGE dealership failure. Have you discussed with your insurer? Has been pointed out to me it's not your vehicle. Anyway, Did their insurance come through?
If the owner's insurer has taken up the claim, I'm confident their lawyers are already asking for the dealer's insurance / lawyer information ... and getting it.
Nope. The manager told them it was the same as if they had their car stolen from the parking lot at the grocery store. Isn't that a bunch of bull? Their technician pulled the car into the bay, left the key fob on the seat, and the crook got it and just told the guy he had done all the paperwork and they opened the bay door for him. Doesn't sound like what happens at the store, at all.
POOR analogy; I've never, ever handed my keys to a grocery clerk!!!! Why wasn't the paperwork checked before rolling up the doors to let them out? I hope they have cameras there to show their incompetence. The dealership is at fault, since the chain of custody never made it back to the owner (keys). Owner gave the keys to the dealership, dealership never gave keys back to the customer - therefore dealership is still on the hook for this...... Now if the dealership handed the keys back to the customer and the customer left the car running and ran back inside the dealership - ONLY then the dealership isn't responsible - transaction was completed. Grocery store comment would then apply....
You don't leave the keys in the car at the grocery store At my dealer they don't let the customers anywhere near the shop. Even when I pay for the service they call a porter to bring the car up front.
I won't let MY car anywhere near a Dealer's shop - and I DANG sure do not give my keys to some rando so that they can plunder through the interior and mess up something as basic as an oil change.
Power plug in minivan has its traction pack in the driver's far rear corner. I recently replaced it. For software updates, they apparently had to pull out this large sized Tupperware cabinet & panel to access the 12v battery to kill power. That panel has lots of goodies in it, Road caution triangles, tool kit, tow strap Etc. When they finished doing their software upgrade, I found all the goodies strewn about the rear, and the panel not replaced, and some blue painters tape that held a bunch of plastic screws never put back in and who knows where they were supposed to go. So disgusted with lazy careless technicians - i just put it back together myself.
