What mileage you at? Have you had the inverter recall carried out? Were you in Power mode at the time or shortly before the POP? Had you been braking on regen shortly before?
Same here. Happened to me in my 2011 Four about a month ago. Sounded like a rock hit the driver's side of the car. No signs of any damage. No problems since. Strange.
Yeah I heard a pop when I drove past a farmer shooting a bird, but it's not the same as someone hearing a weird pop from their car is it? I'm sure the op is able to differentiate between running over a carton and having a noise come from the car.
It's amazing others are hearing it;! I didn't have any cans or bottles! It's very scary because the popping sound is so loud!
Since this one came back to life, here's another "bang" story. A friend was going up I-70 from Denver to go camping and was nearing Eisenhower Tunnel. His young daughter and her friend had wanted to ride in the back of the pickup (under a topper) on the big air mattress they had brought along. He had told her to not pump it up very much. They heard a loud bang and screams from the back of the truck. Karl pulled over and looked, and what to his amusement did he see? The two little girls pinned against the roof of the topper by the air mattress as the seams on the baffles had let go. He said he & his wife laughed so hard they almost fell down.
The certainly beats the exploding potato chip bag I had, climbing out of Red Lodge Montana towards Bear Tooth Pass, on the way to the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The bag was already stiffly pressurized at the grocery store in Red Lodge, and couldn't hold up to the reduced air pressure up the road to the pass. Neither of these should happen anywhere near Florida.
Yeah, I think I'm safe here. LOL! But I'm hoping to make a trip back to Colorado this year. I remember having some bags look like they were about to pop once up on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mtn. Ntl. Park.
