Crap! I ordered Blue. I guess I'll have to change my order (again).

    Dianne!?!?!

    Just kidding.

I didn't get a "when your car is being built" e-mail from Toyota yet, but they did send me the charge station e-mail in December. And it was indeed in the junk file. So I know they have my e-mail. And now they're off the junk list, too, so that should help.

I don't want to be too anxious about this. I still need time to sell my current Prius!!

Gas prices went up 10 cents while out shopping yesterday; selling shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I agree. I also recall seeing the 'white' version in several recent Prius brochures. I guess it just strikes me as odd simply because I strongly dislike that color choice. I wouldn't probably own a Prius if that was the only color option. (To each his/her own, I guess...it just amazes me that so many people like it).

    ...and I am still wondering:

    WHY NO BLACK?!

I think I know why, but not sure if my guess would be right.

    Re: colors

I heard that there was rumor of eventual legislation that would put a premium cost on black vehicles due to the fact that they warm up quicker and require increased A/C and in turn decreased fuel efficiency leading to increased emissions. This might be a step they're taking in their super eco friendly line of cars.

Well, that won't happen in CA! There would be a revolt.

Let's face it, the color choice for the PIP sucks, no red, no black, no gold, only 5 shades of silver and White. If you don't like the silvery green or the silvery blue or the silvery gray or the silvery silver then you order white or wait for a plug-in accord or Fusion. I decided to live with white.

    Well just to clarify?

I was in a bad mood when I attacked Blizzard Pearl White.

Yeah, I honestly don't like it. I think I've seen way too much of it. BUT....

Color choices are always up to the individual. I don't mean to REALLY give grief to Blizzard Pearl contigent. As I did say in one of my earlier posts, it just kinda always suprises me how colors seem to go through cycles of popularity. Remember the early 90's when metallic Forest Green was so popular? Now it really seems whites are popular.

It really is up to the individual. Some of it might be generational.

When I was growing up? White vehicles were mostly limited to either very old people, OR Emergency/Hospital vehicles and ambulances.

Things change. I can't win this arguement. Blizzard Pearl White IS the color of choice for a great number. And it goes beyond Prius...white is a pretty popular color now everywhere...

Sooner or later? The trend will change. Some other color will emerge. Every Blizzard passes....

In my 45 years of car ownership, I have tried just about every color I can think of. I have settled on white as the most practical. It looks bright when it is clean and just looks dull when it is dirty. Dark colors look terrible when they are the slightest bit dirty. Besides white is not so hot in the summer.

But, as you say, color is a matter of personal preference. It is one of the few things we can have to suit our personal taste.

You have yours, I will have mine.

I wish the PiP was available in the U.S. (like it is in Japan) in Super White (code 040). That is easy to color match with touch up.

    My Day! Jan 25th, 2012.

When I came in this morning and saw 112 extra Prius on my inventory listing, I nearly fell out of my chair but then I realized they were a different model code and BINGO - it hit me.

    Plug-Ins!
 <-- the face I made!
    I'm so excited!

By the way, if your order is early enough, or was timed right, I have your build weeks listed.

A quick email to ask me if your car is there needs to include the model/color to help me find it more easily.

I am only showing 112 ... thus there are 45 more still yet to appear on later build months.

I did also send out a mailer to all asking you to make sure I have the right extras clicked - so your cars come in just how you want them. And, if you need your build sheet, I have that too.

    Wow, this is SO cool.

I dropped my entire day's workload on my assistant Nathan's desk (LOL, poor kid) and just started PDFing the build sheets of everyone's car, and working thru the barrage of emails ... :bounce:

    Biscotti - I do not know! :(
Better ask your local dealer. I know regions do things differently, so I don't know what they can see on the east coast.

the first spread of cars - 122

Data collectors, this is best I have time for right now!

Of my first "built between 1/30 and 3/6 cars:

    Base models:
    75

    Color breakdown:
    26 - pearl white
    9 - silver
    7 - blue
    23 - gray
    10 - green

    ________________________

    Advanced:
    37

    Color breakdown:
    15 - pearl white
    6 - silver
    8 - blue
    7 - gray
    1 - green

    OK -- analyze away!

(I still have 45+ more cars coming on pre-order so this is an incomplete spread but best I can do for the time being)

It will be interesting to see when Toyota sends out the emails to people with their exact build dates.

Thanks for the info Dianne! Are the build dates evenly spread throughout or clustered into certain times? Are there cars on the same date? (i.e. wondering at the throughput at the factory) Are earlier confirmation numbers getting an earlier build date? Are the cars clustered by color (i.e. all white cars around the same time)?

Am I asking too many questions? :)
