Agreed - so under the drivers it goes - anyone mounted one yet (under a seat)? The cable should easily go through the flying bridge, back to the center console, and to the right or left for attachment...

I'm waiting for my long lost HU to arrive - then hopefully, I'll drop in tweeters, door speakers, the sub, and connect my DTV box...

That is correct but incorrect. It is non-directional in that we cannot determine the source easily BUT where you mount the sub and the direction it faces can have a huge impact on the sound. Try placing a sub in the hatch area facing backwards. Then take the sub and place it in the passenger seat facing you, or even under your seat facing up and you will definitely hear a big difference in sound and volume. Low frequency waves are VERY long and require development time before our ears can fully register them. That is why standing right next to a subwoofer never sounds as good or as loud as standing 10' back or more. That is another reason why quality home audio subwoofers are floor or wall loaded. :)

I have that question in a separate thread. I'm pretty sure you just by a "Scosche" wiring kit, and plug it in...

"Scosche" not sure what that is, I'm looking to tap into the speaker wires to hook this sub up (car is in the garage all apart)

Then the Scosche TA02B would work instead of cutting... It's on Amazon for $7 (1/2 price), and if you're a prime member, you get free 2 day shipping...

Got one from Amazon at 69.99 with free shipping and installed today at my audio shop. It took about an hour for him to install it under passenger seat and tweak the overall sound configuration. Since my replaced Alpine head unit has a control of sub woofer, he did not connect remote switch. Well, what a difference! Much better low end, base, etc.
I heard JBL system stock prius before and I can say the sound from mine is much better now. Just no comparison and I am absolutely happy with my audio set up. Now it sounds evern better than my spouse's mercedes which has 12 speakers.

My audio spec: Alpine W505 head unit, Alpine Power pack amp, Boston Acoustics and Alpine speakers at the front and rear doors, Boss 8" powered sub woofer.

Hey, so is there a final word on the subject? If I buy this wiring kit, will I not have to do any splicing? and will it cover all the hookups required to install this sub? ie the power and speaker wire connects?

How are you installing (factory/factoryJBL/off brand/brand aftermarket)???

Most installs will be different. You should get your power separately from the battery (with fuse). There are different kits for different installs.

Some HUs have sub out, others have line out to the front (which you can buy a y RCA cable, then run to the sub.

If your base factory, then you need "speaker" level input. To do this, I'd just go to an auto parts store (or electric), and buy a wire 'tap'. Choose the wires you want (ignition on, left speaker out), and tap to those using the existing factory wires... No need for a kit to do the install... Also, ground can be accessed at any frame bolt...

Amazon sells 'amp wiring' kits with 8 awg for like $12 - comes with all the connectors, and a fuse...

Ya, I have the non-JBL, non-nav base HU factory etc. Thanks for the info. I still need to get the amp from my now ex-gf, so once I have the thing in hand I can get a better idea of what I need for an install.
