With that adapter, shouldn't matter. All it does is charge the other guy's battery enough so he can start himself. It does not provide the current (and neither does the Prius) to help with the actual start of the other guys car.

Well, if someone is stuck in rural NV then I'm going to try and help them (because it might be me next time).

And, I don't believe that a device that connects via the power outlet and that does not blow the fuse is going to cause the Prius any problems...

I've only had my Prius for three weeks, but I would NEVER offer to boost another car, and I never have. Before I get flammed, I'm not Evil, just practical. You put a LOT of stress on your alternator and can create surges/spikes in your electrical system that may destroy your onboard electronics. I've had friends who have attempted to boost a dead car and have destroyed their radios, one even killed his own car and had the PCM replaced. I used to have a Ford truck with the Camper Package, and I would use the auxillary battery to boost. My other pickup trucks I would carry around an old but fully charged battery in the bed tool box. I just picked up a Boost Box from Canadian Tire and will keep it in the car for those situations when I come across a motorist in need of assistance. I would much rather spend $100 CDN on a Boost Box then on replacing expensive electronics.

i like the boost boxes because they come in handy for many other things besides jumping cars.

like my RC car, that is the primary use of my boost box
