Are you back yet, BigDaddy? How did the pick-up go? To timyr6, I can turn on my carport lights using a button on my mirror and Smarthome X-10 controllers. (Google both)[/font:52451023ad]
For those who want to do something with their Homelink, besides garage doors.. X-10 is a programable security and remote controls of home devices., they can turn on anything in the home, from lights, to radios and coffee pots etc.. a controller and a computer can make the system automatic. Parts can be bought at RADIO SHACK., and they have a web site, free software, and numerous products there too.
Yea Bill Smarthome does, shack is real easy but for the ones really into the modern home go to Smarthome. My brother has a Vet business completely controlled by Smarthome, including HVAC, security, lighting, medical eqt., food and the likes, it is amazing.
i have a color camera setup with X-10, motion sensor, interface to VCR (yep its old!!) sound recording. also have a wide angle fish eye low light camera (picture sucks but does work well in very low light) the controller i have can control up to 156 modules i believe. i did have 3 at one time... (remote was cheap but receivers were 20-30 a piece) they do have a lot of surveilance and monitoring stuff
Yep, my brother has used this stuff for years, we're just saying the Homelink mirror can be used to control some of the stuff x-10 and smarthome makes.
AHHHHHHHH.... The rush of a Prius coursing through my body...... I've crossed the River Styx... OK. Though this thread has diverged a little into X10 space, I want to steer it back on course a little and dedicate it to all of the to-be Prius owners. *****The wait is worth it****** I picked up my Prius on Sunday in North Carolina, drove it back to Atlanta that afternoon, and had to take it out of town first thing Monday morning on emergency and just got back tonight. What a wonderful car to have to drive around the last 400 miles in 3 days. I smile in traffic now. If you are jonesing, all I can say (repeat) is *****The wait is worth it****** Hang in their brothers and sisters. Your Prius is coming.....
Congratulations, BigDaddy. Now the fun really begins! arty:[/font:f8d3559042]
Congrats! But don't let the pressure get to you, run off, cut your hair, and claim you were kidnapped!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(bigdaddy\";p=\"106758)</div> Yeah, yeah it's coming...so is Christmas! I was told a month ago that I'm "next" for the next Tideland #6 that comes in. Still no dates yet. *sigh*
Yeah... so... Ya got the car, ya drove 400 miles in 3 days, ya smiled in traffic. Nice, but there's one important thing you left out. What was the MPG results. Enjoy the ride...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(philforman\";p=\"106903)</div> I filled up 7 gallons Monday night, the MFD said 47.0 at that point. Current reading is 51.0. I've been doing (an atypical for me) 90% highway driving, speeds anywhere from 55-75. I did punch it up to 90 at one point, but figured I shouldn't be doing that during breakin. I had to sit in bumper to bumper traffic yesterday, cruising on battery a lot of the time, actually saw my MPG climb from 50 to 51! And oh yeah, I am coming from a Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 that was giving 15 MPG, so I was quite happy at the pump this time.
An Old House...Connecticut..that is the problem, get on the internet, contact some Houston Dealers or Texas Dealers, and when you pick a color and option package, they'll get you one., plus you may not get ripped off, like some dealers are doing up North.., but do stay away from Austin Dealers, I heard bad things about them.
Sorry I've been away. Yes, I finally got the car, and it's fantastic! I got 48.0 mpg on the first tank, and about 44 on the second (was driving 76mph on the interstate to try and make 10 hour trip a little shorter) Current tank is at about 46, I think. Car is really dirty right now...was driving on a lot of gravel and dirt roads, so I've got to clean and wax the car here later this week, as soon as my sciatica quits acting up. I'll try the Zaino. That fine dust in Northern Wisconsin got everywhere. My seat covers from Wet Okole are on order. As messy as I tend to be, I'm going to need them. I purposely didn't drive the car with any special gas-saving techniques for the first couple of tanks. That way I can easier see what works and what doesn't. I used my A/C (I'm a big man, 6'1" and about 280), my tires are at what the dealer had them at (38 front, 35 rear), and I used the cruise control and drove fast on the way home. Will adjust tire pressure after this tank, and start gliding more. I'm much more impressed with the Tideland color now that I've had it for a week. Maybe it grows on you (perhaps like mold ), after all, it IS green (well, sometimes) I've already put 1300 miles on it....its fun to drive. Will post pictures when I get time to take pix and figure out how to post them (I know it's not difficult, but I've not tried to do that on this site yet). Chap
Hey Chap! Glad to hear from you. I dropped out of site for a couple of days for a 'honeymoon' with the new car. At the moment, Prius is more fun than PriusChat.
Congrad Chappy...just had a Fort Hood TX love affair (600 miles), here in Texas...only getting 49.5 but that still beats the 15-19 I would get in the Ford. Got a cheap seat cover for now, may splurge and get a better one. I went to a fabric shop and got a yard of Megaldahyde (rubberized color fabric) at $3.99 a yard, and some fabric glue and some commercial velcro. Plan to make custom covers for the door rest areas, center console and possibly the dash, dash box covers too, when and if I do a good job I will clean up the baby and show it off with pics, if I can figure out how to upload them to the site.
