    Okay, I know this is waaaay OT but, and while we do love Five Guys burgers here back east, the first place we stop when out west is In-n-Out. It’s da bomb!!! And yes, extra jalapeños!

    My wife was concerned about storage space. We're taking her mom & sister to the airport in a few minutes. As I expected, it holds about what the PiP held except it rides a couple inches higher. (The deformation in the carpet at the right is where I have a 1X6 in case I need the jack. The big drawback? No room for a spare. But when we take our trip, there will be two of us, not four. :D And that's the same as the PiP. :cool:

    Back from the airport. 50 miles round trip at 189 mpg. All the way down and part way back in EV with four people and the suitcases pictured above going down there. Wife and me coming back. I think the return trip was at least 85 mpg. I didn't record it. The gas gauge has finally dropped below 7/8, but just barely.

    [Edit to add: I have over 1,100 miles on this tank so far. In fact, it'll go over 1,200 before the end of the day if it isn't there already. I forgot to check when I got to work.]

    Also, I've read comments that the car seems more powerful in EV than in HV. I did something today that really demonstrated that feature. As I came around a left turn on the way home from the airport in HV mode, and in Eco mode, I switched to EV as I was accelerating. It was like small scale afterburners kicking in. Without changing the throttle position, the car surged ahead as if the throttle had opened up another 30% or something like that. It was very distinct. It's clearly no Tesla, but it's so much stronger in EV than the PiP was that I can't stop grinning.

    I still think this is the most relaxing car to drive that I've ever had.

    That sounds like the dual-lift cam lobes on our previous Civic Hybrid. In normal driving the low-lift lobes are used. But if you encounter a steep grade or heavy load, hydraulics switch over to the high-lift lobes, and you get a real kick.

    Still, that kick cost gas. :(

    I love the cavernous space the Prime provides vs the other hybrids we've had... BTW, great packing job, Jerry!

    We've opted for now to not use a spare or donut, instead getting a tire repair kit which arrived today. While it would give more peace of mind to have a replacement tire, I prefer to not suffer the encroachment. Hopefully the ~$25 kit will do a better repair job than the provided "tire slime", allowing us to continue on to a proper repair station. Worst case scenario: a call in for roadside assistance.

    I thought about buying those fancy tire repair kit that comes with everything in nice case. Then I figured, how many times am I ever needing to use such kit? NOT MANY TIMES. In fact I have never had tire needing a plug when I am on the road away from home. Yes, I had several occasions I run over a nail or screw that caused a slow leak, but I could just drive to the nearest tire shop for a quick repair. Thus, considering the ROI, I purchased this instead, $5 at local Walmart. I am cheap.

    Very similar to mine. Takes almost no space. I've used it on my son's car and my motorcycle (just to get home), as well as on my truck when we lived in Honduras, but never had an opportunity on my car.

    The last two flats I've fixed were unpatchable. One was at 75 mph and chunks of tire ripped up the rear bumper cover. :eek: The other came from a 3/8" drill bit. And we'll be driving through areas of AZ in a few weeks where there is no cell reception.

    I do have the cheaper stuff in one of my at home tool boxes (for tractor tire repair, etc), but liked the idea of a fully equipped self-contained kit with everything from gloves, pliers to remove the culprit nail (or?), awl and insertion tools, self-vulcanizing "strings" (no cement required), utility knife, lubricant, etc. etc. stored neatly in one rugged storage box which fits neatly under a seat. Similar complete sets can be had for $15-$20, not much more than the least expensive bare bones card mounted kits but with all the bells and whistles. And yes, you probably should still consider a "proper" repair at the tire shop (you did get your tires at Costco or other dealer that does those repairs for free, n'est pas?)

    PS: Besides its completeness, the no cement needed, self-vulcanizing strips helped sell me on this one.

    I've had the blackjack kit for a few years. Everything you need, 2 sizes of plugs. I did 2 repair on our Prius tires (one snow tire, one OEM), both repairs at least 4 years back now. The OEM's I just replaced, and the snows I'll use at least one more winter. No problems with either.

    I did plug repair on at least two other occasions with a son's car, no problems.

    That's strange. What the Drive Monitor for the corresponding ODO and Trip B looks like? Do they have the same EV ratio and average speed?
