Well no problem for me. I took the old speakers completely out, made new base plates with 3/4 plywood, (good for now) and cut the holes for the speakers, mounted the bases on the door first, then mounted the speakers to the base plates. Use t-taps on the speaker wire just behind the plug. These take more power and the HU has a lack of power for these speakers, thus my comment to take it to 40 as that when I can hear it pretty well. It is by no means blasting. 16 watts in a 80 watt speaker doesnt go far.

Since I got no response from the retired broadcast engineer, I went ahead and adjusted the settings by dropping the midrange setting and decreasing the treble setting to one notch below max and the bass setting to 2 notches below max setting. I didn't drop the midrange all the way, maybe to about 2 or three from the lowest setting.

It does sound "fuller", and I still have plenty of volume adjustment.

Sorry, was out in the new car. LOL. What did ya expect with a new toy? hehe

Yes, any variation of the V setting by adjusting the bass up and treble up while keeping midrange the same or lower will provide you that fullness response I was talking about. Hope you like it.

    Cheers

I made the adjustment of midrange that you recommended and it made a huge improvement in the bass. It sounds great! Thank you!

Can you tell me the model of those Polk speakers you bought? I'm desperately trying to improve the crappy sound of my Prius III. Is it totally compatable with the stock non-JBL receiver?

    Thanks

Adjusted the settings according to Three60guy's advice except moved the midrange half way down from center and this made a HUGE difference. I was contemplating getting a powered Bazooka sub but at the moment, I don't believe I will have a need!

I also moved the fader from center to 2 notches to the rear and I now have a more balanced sound throughout the cabin! Thanks again for the "sound" advice! :)
