Yes. We have it since 2006 model.
The HDD Navi records CD music automatically while listening. It can store up to approx 2,000 songs in the HDD.

i dont think you would on navigational side, but looking at Avensis which has both, HDD Nav is more advanced system.

I would expect HDD to be far faster at accessing data etc., compared to DVD. For those that have used both, is that a correct assumption?

In what way is it more advanced? more POIs? better map detail? more features?

ggood, yeah HDD should be faster in accessing data than a DVD.

I'm not sure about the difference because I'm not a HDD Nav user yet.
But, it looks it has more display pages such as real city map, parking lot map and highway map.

For future functions, the HDD Nav will have an online map update capability.

    Hi Ken,

If our American friends are amazed at the equipment available to our European Prius, I am amazed at the equipment available to your Japanese Prius

The looks on that nav display are astonishing! You have all of that on your 2006 models already, amazing.

I'll risk asking you about the new 2010 nav unit shown at Geneva, please see the picture within this post: Genebra 2009 - Prius-PT

There is one single CD entrance, we are assuming at Prius-PT that one must load the nav DVD, the unit will copy it to HDD, then remove it and use the unit as standard CD player (or DVD player, who knows...). Can you confirm this?

Also the thing troubling us is that firewire (IEEE 1394) connector there. It has a little slide door covering it, but once opened that is the looks of it as you can see on my post.

We are speculating at Prius-PT that the connector is to be used to upload the music files to HDD. Do you know if this is the case?

    Thanks!

Very cool displays!! I guess Japan is better mapped than the rest of the world. (I suppose its size and density makes it easier??) In Canada, we have detailed maps for major cities only. Even on major routes, the road can be a few hundred metres off (for example part of the Trans-Canada Highway east of Thunder Bay, Ontario is off by a few hundred metres).

My understanding is POI's are in the realm of a 10 fold increase as well as speed. (hmmm wondering about U.S. foreign market interchangability)

I hope they use caching with a flash memory. Turbo fast 8 GB are less than $16 these days.

I have no doubt but more POIs also mean more changes as shops open and close.

Good find Ken. There are mix of R/L HD ready for shipping.

On same websharing site, also found a collection of shots from appreantly 2010 JDM brochures with very detail comparisons between different grades from headlights + varieties of bodykits @ http://photozou.jp/user/top/203559

Looks like Japan gets both Super White and Blizzard Pearl - interesting. Probably means they'll make Super White available for fleet ordering in short order for the US.

That's an awful lot of white cars. Interesting that you can tell between Japanese/UK etc as they are RHD and then you can also split up the LHD cars between USA and Europe by the configuration of the wiper blades and door mirrors.

The UK is getting 2 white colours too, flat white and the pearl. Looks like only Japan is getting the 2 slightly dodgy light colours.

Of course it is. We had discussed this over and over, we have it in Europe. This is an European car, notice the headlamp, it lacks that horrible orange turn sign on the side that you folks have. We have the turn sign on the mirrors, remember?

The rim on the right page is interesting. It is not the OEM 17" rim. It looks like 18". I wonder if Ken has more information about it.
