I don't think it matters Roger since my 2010 one fit perfectly in my 2012. Maybe the shape is somehow different, where the cable lies for an ipod or something, but the holes are exactly where they were in the 2010.

Some people found it annoying that you have to pivot it up and dump the content just to reach something underneath.
I prefer the one on my 2006 model.

I stopped at my dealer and was told that the 2009-2011 and as far as he could see it would work in the 2012 plug-in as well. I just have to decide if it is worth $37 dollars? for a little tray in the center counsel! ;)

09 is gen II, 04-09. 10-12 is gen III and will fit. sad that these dealers can't get something that simple straight.

Agreed, knowing about the product you sell or have sold in recent years should be something salesman want to know... Unfortunately too many wing it and people rightfully so believe what they are told from them.

In defense of some salesmen they are operating with what little information they are given. When I ordered my PIP I dealt with the same salesperson I bought my 2004 Prius from 8 years ago. Good guy and very helpful, but even he complained about the lack of information they were provided from Toyota about the vehicle, features, and options.

IMO that's a very marginal excuse for a salesperson today. I mean, it's getting the foundation to do your job well. Something a salesperson SHOULD want for themselves. And if they aren't getting that infrastructure from either their own dealership or Toyota? Get on a computer and spend some time on this site, or simply Youtube.

You can pretty much make yourself an above average student of Prius, in a very short time.

If I worked for a Toyota dealership in a sales capacity, I'd make it part of my job to be familiar with Prius, Prius Chat, and simply "Google" the product name from time to time.

It's NOT like the information isn't available. Even if you aren't getting it directly from the dealership or Toyota.

I'm surprised though. Most dealerships have books that are filled with information about all their models and even beneficial comparisons that can be presented in relationship to competitors models.

I have to think if a salesperson is uninformed, it's more on the salesperson themselves.

If you want to learn about the products you are selling to make yourself a better informed sales-person the information is readily available both on the internet as well as through Toyota channels. Yes, it takes additional work and dedication, but isn't pride in ones self and job worth the additional effort?

judging by the way toyota disseminates information, i can't argue with the salesman. but most of these people are so uninformed as to be laughable. and the things they say, 'oh, i would never drive a prius, they are so underpowered.' make you feel like you're at a gm dealership. same salesman after 8 years? that's gotta be a record. dianne not withstanding.:D

It was $19.14, but shipping was $8.05. I think it may be cheaper to swing by your local Toyota dealer or call them to place an order and then pick it up.

I doubt it. My dealer parts department told me I save about 30% on parts if I order from their website and have it shipped to me, bypassing them.

Do you have the part number by any chance. From the site, can't figure out what I need.

Sorry, I thought it linked to the actual part.

The part number I ordered was 58825-47020. The description on the receipt was "POCKET, CONSOLE BOX".

After procrastinating for a few weeks, I stopped by the dealer and ordered the tray. Parts guy discounted it 20%, so I paid $31 including tax, and it was in the next day.
Boy, somebody is really proud of that piece of plastic! I can't for the life of me understand why it wasn't included in the PiP, when it comes in the hatchback. As someone mentioned previously, the lift out one in the Gen ll was more convenient, but I'll learn to live with this one, just to be able to avoid digging through the iPod wires, etc at the bottom of the box.

Just ordered the tray from Toyota.part.com, $19.14 + $7.25 USPS shipping.
Had I been more observant, I just would have removed the tray from my 2010 before trading it in, oh well...

My parts guy matches any legitimate price quote. I told him the Toyota.part.com price and he matched it. His original quote was $37. No shipping cost that way either.
