I read an article that I cannot find anymore that Toyota had developed a new CVT Hybrid fluid. Better MPG supposedly.

Well we're taking the risk we've been using I don't even know what Castro's equivalent to the CVT fluid needed for these hybrid type setups heading into 400K and transmissions have not even been on the radar since the car's been on the road some things have been but the CVT MG1 and 2 etc not at all I've only read about those failures haven't personally seen one or know of one in my area that's been changed because it failed. Now because they got broken in wrecks or been up and crushed in an accident or something like that absolutely and the people generally didn't fare so well either but just them breaking down because transmission fluid broke down the varnish on the electric motor parts not that I know of but I'm sure it possible.

I'm wondering if there is a confusion between WS and FE cvt fluid?

Probably somewhere in the readings not necessarily here but in other places where I've read about the Toyota CVT transmission fluid where people are talking about the stuff like it's gold or platinum or titanium or some such nonsense for the regular non-hybrid non motor generated transmissions etc I would be using the regular Castrol or whatever meets the spec for the setup. I know a lot of these CVTs and other vehicles not necessarily the Prius are having lots of problems and I don't think it's really fluid related so I'm kind of leery of them fitted behind regular gas engines even like in the Yaris I'd rather just have a five-speed I think.

Agreed, which is why I am trying out Valvoline Full Synthetic CVT fluid in my 2016 Toyota Corolla S Plus.

Just doing drain and fills (2) so far, so I haven't replaced much of the old fluid yet. But the Valvoline CVT fluid is straw colored and not dyed red like the Toyota fluids.

It was overdue at 78K miles on the odometer.

It is interesting/concerning that it seems that Valvoline has removed the labelling on the fluid that says it is compatible with Toyota FE and WS.

So far, no noticeable change in performance or behavior of the CVT transaxle. Only negative so far is that the Valvoline fluid is quite smelly.

    SM-G781V ?
