Is there a place to buy a cubby subwoofer/enclosure?

Looks like I will be using a dynamat-like product with hatch, license plate and maybe around sub. The sub is stuck in there somehow, forgot to ask JR how, I emailed, but I'll check again Friday, assuming they are not open today. Let me know if anyone in the area would like to stop by and hear it. I work in Ft. Worth, so I could show it during lunch break between 11-1 there or in Dallas on the weekends. I may be down in the Cedar Hill area with my Bimmer for a weekend or two, but just let me know.

JR has informed me that to get to my battery I will have to remove the sub and then remove the screws bolting the sub to the floor piece and then remove sub box. so I'm going to say it is not coming out for a while. The velcro idea might have been better, it's in there nice and tight though.

One issue is the carpet, I pulled it out from underneat the sub to get to the box underneath and I can't slide it back in, I may just cut off the flap and make the stowage compartment more accessible. THoughts?

The smell was around a couple weeks, but wasn't too bad after a day or two.

I went in with a layer of resin all the way around, then started with resin and chopped mat on the bottom and worked my way around to the top. This gave the top part time to kick a little so it wouldn't just fall out. 2 layers, let it cure, then I did another 2 layers.

Then I pulled it out and laid up a few more layers at the work bench.

It was nasty in there up-side-down...

 

Please help me out here guys... I have an ebay opportunity to pick up a supposedly slightly used HX250 for about $150. The seller has 100% of 62 sales.

Has anyone had an experience where they got defective stuff and did the ebay protection do you any good?

Just get a lot of pics of it. I had bought one off there, but it was marked up, and the screw holes in the rim of it looked like you'd turned your 3-year old loose w/ the power drill and let him play with those holes.... The one or two pics on the auction page did NOT show any of those things....

 

Did you just take it as is or try to get your money back?

Well, I got it from another country, so I just counted it as a "should have known better" type of deal.... lol

 

even worse....I hadn't really looked at that speaker any more since I typed the earlier response.... Well, I just went and got the speaker from where I sat it in a back room of the house, and was surprised even more to find that one of the side "arms" of the speaker (there's 4 arms that go from the bottom/heavy part up to the top/cone part) is totally broken off at the top and the whole top part of it is missing. There's just a jagged piece of the side arm sticking up into the top part of the speaker where the top is broken and gone. would have/should have/could have.....

 

wanna "donate" it? LOL

 

sad thing is, I paid $65 to just ship the stupid thing to me...

OK, one other question, my current class D amp does 300 wrms @ 4ohms; should that do the trick?

 

Although below peak and RMS, I think your golden unless you plan to power block parties with a Prius. What amp is it?

 

Well the speaker should be on its way... Hope to work on the enclosure over Christmas break. Hopefully Tim will be around to step me through the process.

Just figured out yesterday what is causing most of the rattling from the sub, it's the trim piece just below the window. If I can get that dynamated I think we're in business. After holding it tight, there was not much other rattling, a little, itty bit from the hatch, but not a bunch.

 

Looky what I just got in the mail. Man that thing is massive. Gonna have to lose some weight to make up for this addition... don't want my FE to take too big of a hit.
Gonna round up the materials for the enclosure of the next couple of weeks. Tim, any brand of glass/resin you recommend or is it all the same? Thanks

So, is that the one u got on eBay? And why does yours look totally different than mine? Did the dude that sold me this one strip the whole outside off of it or something?
