Is the Prius v *that* much more comfortable than the hatchback?

Where did I say that is why I was purchasing a Prius? I wanted a reliable, practical, and efficient vehicle. The Prius family is pretty much impossible to beat when it comes to that criteria. It was easily worth the extra $250 a year to get the larger v.

 

Maybe for you but generalizing is silly.

 

I am seriously considering buying a Prius V. I am used to driving mini vans and like their driver's seat height so I like to know if anyone can tell me roughtly how much lower does the V's seat height compared to say a Sienna or other typical mini vans? Thanks.

 

I made back the "Prius Tax" in 3.3 years. Now it is all in my pocket.

 

Having both a v and a hatchback III my wife and I both think the v is more comfortable and a better ride experience. And our mileage is great too!

I second Quentin's take. I just came back from a camping trip this weekend after dropping off a friend at a train station 400km outside of town. Round trip for the 2 day affair was 1300km (~800miles). We had 3 adults + 1 infant-in-car-seat, 2 medium sized suitcases, 3 45litre backpacks, a 40litre cooler on wheels, and camping gear geared towards comfort as opposed to light weight all fit in the v without a problem. Everybody was more than comfortable during the trip and i had enough room to still, usefully, see through the back windshield.
Mind you though, we were heavy and not much faster than 18-wheelers going up moderately steep hills. Average for the trip was 4.9 L/100km (~48mpg)

 

Yes, the v's ride is that much better, then again I'm comparing a Gen II (2004) to my new v type 3. To me and I' m also in my late fifties the v seats and ride comfort are excellent. I loved my Gen II except for the very plain, no frill seats. Over the last three weeks my appreciation for the v's seats, including driver lumbar support far surpasses that of my old Gen II, either 00 or 03 4 Runners, or my daughters Rav4. Good Luck on your choice but don't think you'll go wrong with the v.
