Wow, these are two statements that should be the sole answers to this thread...and should be more than enough to shut up those (mainly some II owners) that like to downgrade what they buy simply because they went cheap and want others to feel just as bad as they do. It goes back to my feeling that the few II owners who use this term use it because they want to justify their purchase and to bring everyone down to their level. Sad and pathetic.

You keep saying this like a broken record. It's pretty clear by now what you think and it's become annoying.

Danny was right in his PriusChat Show when he said that this thread should've stopped at about post #20. It's a few people chiming in and one person (Thai) continuing to say the same thing. I also noticed that Danny didn't encourage members to visit it at the end of the talk, like he usually does after each topic. Good call, Danny. :thumb:

Hey, this is a thread i started...it provides a good summary, don't you think?? :) Does it rub people like you the wrong way? Be careful, you may have to retract some more stuff if you keep opening your mouth!

The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is you were the one who posted this thread, and you asked a question. People have taken time and effort to give you a thoughtful answer. I know I have. But when you don't get the answer you like, you act seriously confrontational and hateful. You call people names, apply labels on them, belittle and marginalize them.

It seems the impetus for this thread was to counter something someone else said in another thread that you didn't agree with.

I respect the opinions that have been tossed around in the thread. Heck, I've even changed my mind that the Prius is not an economy car. But when you keep attacking level II owners 5 days later (who definitely have not even said anything to disparage you), you're the one that ends up looking pathetic.

    Agreed.

This thread is all about Thai showing his insecurities, making disparaging comments about Prius II owners, to make himself feel better about his car. Plain and simple.

Actually, with exception to REVHIGH, I have had good discussion, including to YOU. Except with you, you did not answer back when I made logical argument against what you wrote. So, it is you that have ignored anything that you don't want to read. Look in the mirror before calling others out!

Our last discussion is on page 19...you never answered until now to post this. And the problem with you is that you don't read the posts and ask repetitive questions that have been answered many times...remind me why I should even have a discussion with you if you can't read nor have a good discussion without have to resort to dumb post like above??!!

Let's open up discussion where we left of? I will be more than happy to. BTW when did I call names to you??? Or when did I insult you?

As for mcmaster, he came out of nowhere to insult me. I responded in kind and he just can't take it...not my fault.

Your follow ups to my replies really left the discussion no where to go. I would have been happy to have a good discussion, but you are so confrontational, it's really doesn't motivate people other than to stoop to your level. In truth you didn't really answer my question either, but I've really lost interest in that particular conversation.

People in glass houses should not throw stones. Can't say that I'm perfect though. It seems to me these are people not named revhigh:

Don't kill the messenger. These are your quotes.

Actually this is a quote by you I can agree with.

Are these quotes from this thread??!! Again, you change topic!

And were these quotes from unprovoked?? I thought the quotes explained adequately. Thanks for searching thru my posts...did not know that you cared!!

Thai, you are happy to quote yourself and bring up conversations in other threads when appropriate. Shouldn't you be happy that I am as well? I am thoughtful like that.

I think anyone with half an open mind can easily see from those quotes that you are quick to throw insults around.

It's your preferred method of "conversating." You could disagree with someone without being this way.

    Sustained high gas prices?

Given the price peak in 2008 and recession, the crash and deep recession, the gas price drop and then gradual rise you can see the Prius has actually done OK.

+ Sales would have been 179,535 had the average through August held.

Given the inventory problems in April after the earthquake and tsunami and the increase in sales of efficient vehicles I think there's good reason to believe that sales would otherwise have held above February's numbers and somewhere close or above the March numbers.

Although Americans don't love the Prius the way the Japanese do, I believe that rather than cooling, they've become more accepting. Having sales follow gas prices is OK as it suggests that practical buyers are willing to pay the hybrid premium, even as more efficient ICEVs have entered the market. Since March 2010 monthly sales have never dropped below 10,000 and have mostly been above 12,000 and, inventory issues aside, in recent months the sales increased.

Over this year I expect sales to remain at a good level, even though some sales will be eaten by the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and the more efficient compacts.

I wouldn't say it's an econobox in the sense of a Corolla or Civic or Yaris or Fit but yet I would not put it in the same class as the Camry. A loaded Camry feels a lot more premium than a loaded Prius. I think it's the materials used inside the Prius than makes it feel cheap. The Corolla has a nicer, more pleasant "thunk" when you close the door. The materials on the Camry (even though it's cheaper on this current generation than the last) still feels a bit more expensive than the one used in the Prius (but I do commend Toyota for making the plastic in the Prius more attractive with the leaf-vein design, rather than just a large slab of plastic like the Gen 2). The Camry is also a lot quieter than the Prius.

No amount of luxury features or other amenities would make a car that has "cheap" materials a premium vehicle.

If you load up a Yaris with alloys, leather, moonroof, HIDs etc, it doesn't make it a premium vehicle, even if it costs $25k.

For me, it has to have the materials (inside and out) to make it feel like a premium vehicle, not the fancy features.

Manufacturers are finding ways to cut cost. Have you seen the door panel of a Mazda3 or an Impreza? Both cars are regarded highly for their great value, great handling/fun-to-drive factor and nice features yet the door panel is a huge expanse of black plastic with a tiny area to rest your elbow. Door panels used to have designs (our 2002 Camry had a nicely folded leather insert not the plain stretched piece of leather found on the Prius' door panel that lacks any imagination)

Can you turn the radio on low on the freeway doing 85 and hear every word like you're in your living room? Then it's a luxury car. Otherwise it's not and the Prius is not nearly luxury quiet.

However, I'd personally rather have a loaded Prius than a stock Lexus. I value the gadgets more.

    Nexus S ?

This is NOT about Prius being a luxury car or not! So, you guys think that the world is made up of just econoboxes and luxury vehicles?
