Oh I was mistaken with the last picture. I thought it was a drill bit but it looks like a giant screw that they were hoping was going to turn the ignition.

Probably someone requested some parts from it.

Whelp they came back a fourth time, this time with a truck. As soon as I saw the truck pulling up the street I called 911 but they hooked it up and dragged it away in about a minute or two. When I called 911 yesterday they said they would have some patrols in the area and the thieves came back pretty much the same time but no good. In addition to my car getting stolen I now have a couple useless replacement parts on the way. I loved that car, what a gut punch.

    Update on my situation:
The police found my car. It was in a neighborhood about only a quarter mile away. The car was pretty far away from the curb it's practically in the middle of the street. I'm surprised it took so long for the people in that area to report the car. No extra damage beyond before that I can tell. My brakes might be damage in some way since they were dragging the car? I hope no serious damage since they didn't drag it that far. Since they were dragging the car and cops were looking for them I guess they just decided to abandon it.

Well, that's a piece of (qualified) good news.

It seems like they're really desperate for a Gen 1. I wonder if they'll be back again.

I might be thinking about something like a camera drone.

Big bollard to chain the car to ....

Years ago when my Mazda 323 was taken, the police found it in about the same amount of time, but what they found was the sheet metal and most of the carpet.

Wow, that is really something, you can't start a prius without the matching RFID chip in the key, so clearly they are idiots and don't know about a Prius, the fact they towed it indicates they are super idiots. I was thinking they wanted to steal the hv battery, I've heard of that being done, it doesn't take too long either, you don't need to steal the car first, you just need to get inside to open the doors and trunk.
You really can't prevent someone from towing away your car, unless you have a firearm ready.
My step daughter had her Civic stolen twice, insurance totally it the second time, so I bought it back from the insurance (they just ripped out the stereo damaged the dash), and added an alarm system that disabled the fuel pump relay and used a smoke detector alarm that is super super loud and intolerable if you are sitting in the drivers seat. Here is my video on that if it helps.

Btw, I also have an immobilizer and matching keys and cylinders on ebay from that car I pulled the motor from.
