I never look around at other people while I drive. But the other day, I looked over because I felt like somebody was just a little too close to my right side.

Dude was freaking, throwing up the heavy metal hand signal, and - I think - motioning for me to follow. I just smiled and drove off. Can't say that ever happened to me while driving the 2019 lol. In fact, I was treated quite the opposite.

Its no biggie to say these things here, but if you said the last gen looks better than the new gen to someone in public, don't be surprised if you see them trying to hold back laughter or roll their eyes.

i'll agree with you about demand when sales numbers bear it out. for now, supply is making demand look hot on priuschat.
personally, i think it's a great looking car, but people like suv's and cuv's these days.

I went up to Denver on Sunday (dropped off a family member at DIA....CRAZY busy airport)...anyway, on the drive home, I saw a white 2023 Prius that had 21-inch wheels. BEAUTIFUL car! It reminds of an Aston Martin sedan.....does anybody else see the similarity?
Let's see if I can find a picture...

I don't know if and when I will trade in for one. I will probably get a call from the dealer by the end of the year.

There are things I like about the new generation, but there are many things I don't like such as the fuel efficiency and price. Looks hardly matter. If you are really going for the looks, there are so many much-better-looking options.

The latest numbers were posted recently. So far the gen5 is selling at a rate around that of the gen4.

I do not remember! We were both at a light. I'm gonna go with admiration!

And that's with ZERO excess inventory. If these were stacked up 5 deep at dealers in every color, they'd be selling like hot cakes! I mean... even the salespeople get excited when you drive one back onto a Toyota lot lol.

Just got back from washing the Sexy Lil Fuel Sipper. Wasn't doing anything crazy for MPG's. Engine started multiple times and I hit multiple lights. Didn't see the number until I turned her off.

The white truly is gorgeous. It's kind of partly cloudy to overcast out and my car's looked silver all day.

I think what's unique about the Wind Chill Pearl compared to other metallic white is the metallic flakes in WCP are very fine. At certain angles, the paint looks like a satin/sheen finish. Very cool for a white color.

Many car models are in short supply, and have been for some time. Can't make long term forecasts with these conditions.

It would be interesting to read a report on new car markup averages. The G5 Prius has been hitting 5-10k fairly consistently in the U.S. That's a big % of MSRP!

And you can be confident that those paying the big markups aren't posting on this forum. ;)

Well I saw a user here or somewhere brush off the fact that they paid a $10k markup cause they needed a car and shrugged. $10k isnt a lot, but it also isn't nothing. Probably also paying taxes on that $10k so it's more like $11k.

That would be over 30% on an LE. Some of the biggest on the following article are around 20%:

idk what the state of prius inventory was last year, but yeah, too early to judge. we might even have to wait until supply increases to get a feel, but when will that be? might take til next year, and by then, gas prices may or may not have an affect

There is similar mark ups on the Maverick. It is on its second year. For the first year, Ford sold more than twice the number of Prius Toyota plans to make for the US. With a little digging, I bet there are more models in the same situation. Then there are used cars selling for higher than new MSRP.

The market is still far from normal.

The unassuming, odd looking gen 2 and 3 were selling in the high 100k to 200k annually.

Middle aged construction worker cursed at my Prime today while I was backing out of the plaza lot.

"Look at that shit! It's the new Prius! It looks fu***** sick!"

Hurried out of there because I was kind of embarrassed
