The song name error that threw in random characters has been fixed.

Will the DICE support non US-ASCII text such as Japanese kana? I have a lot of MP3s that display the album/title/artist in Japanese kana just fine on my iPod display.

How will we go about getting our firmware updated as DICE makes fixes? I hope we can do it ourselves and not have to send the units back. Are any of these updates available now or are they waiting to get it all rolled into one big release (including the '06 issues)?

I'm just thinking that we should be beta-testing their update process as well.

All the changes are extremely minor. How they want to handle updates is nothing we have talked about; but I'll ask on monday. I really doubt they will send out new units since the changes really are tiny.

Edit - ok, I was wrong on this. The Ice-Link you were able to update it from home, the dICE you cannot.

Danny, I have a 2006 model Without Navigator and I would liket to see text on my MFD. It is not acceptable for me to buy a unit that can't display text. Thanks.

Asian characters on this unit would be great. Wish I was in CA to allow a 06 for testing to make this happen. :D

Only ASCII characters will be displayed.

I was wrong on something earlier. The Ice-Link you could update from home with an additional cable, but with the DICE you won't be able to.

So apparently the computer/bus in an 06 is insanely fast. Alot faster than an 05.

I can't really call it a 'fix' since everything is pretty much getting rewritten for a 06.

Yea, they're working on it - they're rewritting alot of stuff, starting from the program to read and log an 06 - which I was told they spent most of the night on. Then they'll see what needs to be changed to make it work. Possibly nothing, just needs to adjust timing and such. Maybe everything. The biggest bottle-neck will be is having an 06 on hand. If I could afford to trade in my 05 for an 06 I would. :(

I'm gonna be hitting up more local 06's real soon.

DICE had my 06 for a day and 1/2....but I had to go to work and they needed to work on the car longer...so I am bringing it back either for the weekend or next week.....I got to play with the unit and they got the unit to work except for the text display....they mentioned they got a lot of information and the 06 is a lot different than the 05, so they are going to spend the next couple of days reading the log file they downloaded.
I hope they can get it up and running completely the next time I leave the car.

P.S. My wife just got the 06 Civic Hybrid...I am very impressed compared to her 03 Hybrid. It drives so much nicer than the Toyota and the NAVIGATION SYSTEM WORKS AT ALL TIMES!!! And it has all sorts of information such as restaurants at each freeway exit...the only downside is no bluetooth phone service...

Judging by how late they were there that night they're gonna be.

Thanks again. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you :( Your's is the first 06 I've sat in. I'm envious of your seats and the MFD. I think my cry of "Damnit, the screen fades from screen to screen!" echo'd a few times. The headlights are quite catching as well. And how sharp the navi display is.... etc. I promise I didn't drool in your car.

Could I just chip here to say that I've only just gotten around to looking at this thread for the first time yesterday, even though it's been running for weeks. I've now signed up.

I'd basically been ignoring it because I couldn't make head nor tail of the title. If I'd seen anything about "new iPod interface" or "group buy", I'd have had a look. But "Event iPod Integration Unit Signup announced"?

I think I'd vaguely figured it was something to do with a meet-up event where people were helping each other fit some iPod interfaces or something.

installed my dice yesterday into my 06 with nav. the instructions which came with the unit and the instructions online are very vague... can anyone confirm that i've hooked this up correctly?

i got three cables in my kit:
    - cable A is an ipod dock connector on one end, and a flat black molex on the other
    - cable B is a round mini-din on one end, and a large white molex on the other, with a second large white molex attached to the first by only two wires.
    - cable C is a three way cable, with a large white molex on one end (which fits into both plugs on cable B) and two small white molex plugs on the other end, one male and one female.

i have connected one of the small plugs on cable C to the radio and left the other small plug hanging. then i connected the large plug on cable C to cable B and left the second, two-wire connector on cable B hanging. then i connected cable B to the dice box, and cable A between the ice box and the ipod.

the upshot is that there are two loose plugs behind my dashboard, and only one plug actually attached to my car.

is this correct!? i assume that the other small plug on cable C is a pass-through in case i have or get satellite radio installed. but what is the large two-wire connector?

using the setup i described, i attached my second gen ipod, which i am aware does not display text on the mfd. that's ok, because i'm getting a new ipod soon. but i don't get any control buttons on screen either. just the track number and the time. i can do next/previous track with the steering wheel buttons, and the buttons on the radio, but to do anything else, i have to use the ipod itself.

overall, this is better than the aux jack, so i'm pleased. and i signed up as a beta tester, so i pretty much assumed it wouldn't work perfectly. but i'm a little annoyed that the setup instructions were so vague.
