Hi I am new. From Sauk City. About to try to buy a Prius in Madison. Any advice? I am thinking to get the Touring because I am always in rural areas or on the highway, not sitting at stop signs in a big city. Is Smart Motors better or worse than Jon Lancaster's?

When and where does the local club meet? What do they do, sit around and talk?
    Thanks.

    kazie60,
Hi! We had a Madison Hybrid Group (MHG) meeting the same day you posted, (March 8) If you PM me your email address, I'll be sure to add you to the notification list for future events. I don't always get around to posting them here on PriusChat. (Sorry!)

We meet the 2nd Saturday of the odd numbered months.

So the next meeting is May 10th.
    10:00am - Noon
    Business Meeting Room
Culver's of Madison - Todd Drive (Near American TV ).
    2102 W. Beltline Hwy
    Madison, WI 53713

What do we do at meetings? We hang out. Talk about all things hybrid related, and a lot more. Sometimes we have presentations, etc. We also get together with other local hybrid car clubs, from Milwaukee and Chicago once in awhile. For instance we do a Brewers game get together.

As a group we go to (and also volunteer our time) at Hybridfest, the annual hybrid car "convention". It's kind of a family reunion for hybrid owners and others who are interested in alternative fuel cars and the environment. People come from all over the country. You should definitely plan on going. It's July 18-20 this year.

As far as the Smart/Lancaster debate? I personally don't think you'll go wrong with either, but perhaps others will chime in.

I live in Sauk City too, so if you ever want to just meet up at the Blue Spoon for a quick chat, I'm up for that as well.

I look forward to hearing from you!

    Hi Kazie,

I've always preferred dealing with Smart. You can check out both to see who will give you a better price.

Great color choice, if you go with the Spectra Blue. That's what I have. I had to order it and wait 7 weeks to get it in the package I wanted.

I haven't been to a MHG meeting yet. Something always seems to come up. Maybe next time.

Sorry for the late response. I forgot how to get here. I am having a ball with my Spectra Blue Touring 2008! Next week I get a window tint and venture shield. I just ordered a cargo liner, mud guards and side moldings.

I look foreward to meeting up with everyone at Culvers on May 10th!

Hi,this is glory. The state of Wisconsin is not known for producing a large number of major college prospectus. In a typical year the Wisconsin badgers will sign only about a half dozen players from their home state.

I am sorry I missed the Madison event. I got my Prius November 24, 2008. I have never been to an event, but hope you post the next ones on here. I love to drive mine and find I can keep up on the freeways just fine, although I notice that at 80 with a headwind my mileage dropped down to about 42 to the gal. At 70 I was closer to 48. That was in South Dakota! :)

Hey everyone, I am a new Prius owner, I live in Milwaukee. I am looking for a place to get my windows tinted. I want Uber Optiks for the tint. I do not want anything else, that might just tint, and not do other things, such as reduce the heat in the car. Thanks for any help!

    Hi All,

I am new to this forum, been lurking for a few weeks, and as of recent weeks I'm a 2008 Prius Gen 2 owner, specifically for my future position as a RCA with the USPS in central WI.

Not sure if this is the best place to post this...if not, please direct me.

I would like to know the best place in WI to take my vehicle in for a conversion to RHD, or at the very least a RH pedal conversion.

I found two online sources for the RHD kits, one being postalthings $2k for the entire conversion kit including the RH steering wheel not including labor, and the other online source is G.C. Zaun Sales Inc. - they sell the accelerator and brake pedals separately but don't do the steering wheels anymore due interference with airbag deployment. The only place I found locally was A&J Mobility in Madison, about an hour drive from where I am, and I can get the full pedal conversion done there, but again, they don't do the steering wheel conversion.

I have other questions as well with regard to logging mileage as a RCA for tax purposes, etc. but I'll start with the conversion questions first.

    Thank you for any feedback.
