Interested in a Plug in Prius, but I live in Wisconsin

Are you planning on selling your c when you buy the new one?

How many long road trips do you plan on taking in whatever you buy?

Are you able to house your car in a garage during the winter? What do temps get to in the garage at night?

Where exactly are you located?

We have members of our local hybrid club that own PIP as well. They love their cars.

 

PiPs are still being sold here in Maine also. $29,990 less $2000 bonus financing cash plus 0% for 5 years. Add in the federal percentage reduction also. I imagine you could make an offer and see how low several dealers are willing to go, it would be interesting to see.

I'm loving driving around in electric. The main disadvantage of the car is the no trunk and no spare situation.

I got around MSRP by buying used.

I go to my own mechanic, stay the heck away from the dealer. A bigger battery and a charge regulator don't frighten him.

If you call and make an appointment they may be able to charge it for you. In electric it's pretty quiet except for this little George Jetson hum. Performance is the same.

When a salesman doesn't know something, he will just make up random fluff. Don't know why.

Was the same for me. Sometimes you can report a fake listing.

I bought mine from Dianne, way back on Feb. 29, 2012. So, I still haven't celebrated its first birthday yet.

It's been a great experience, even during the winter... though, quite lonely. I only see a few per month around here.

I have looked for you, John. I am a displaced Minnesotan living in Wisconsin, with a Blue PIP. I still have my Green 2001, and have appreciated your Prius insights since before my classic one arrived. Your videos show you on 35E, and any time I am in the neighborhood I have my camera ready to catch a picture of John1701a in the wild. It will be my best post ever when I write it.
Oh, and to go on topic here, our Eau Claire Toyota dealer did just fine with PIP care when it has been necessary.

 

I Agree with many people here. I own two 2014 Prius Plug ins that were bought and shipped from Dianne WHITMORE from Carson Toyota. The thing is at the time, (maybe still is), it was way cheaper (by thousands) to buy and ship from Cali, then it was to buy from anywhere locally. Besides , Dianne has done this countless of times , so it was just as easy as buying locally.

Oh and I should mention, that is was cheaper to buy a plug in from California, then a 3 or 4 locally. This is including the Cali Toyota rebates and fed tax credits. FYI

Just filled the tank on mine this morning... 857 miles, 100 MPG exactly on the display! Gotta love it.

 

I had to go from ohio to Maryland to get my 2012 advanced model in Clarksville at Antwerpen toyota. They now have 3 in inventory a 2013 green base model with only 5,000 miles for 21000 before tax title and liscence. Only problem is getting the title transferred I had never baught a out of state car but you have to go were the car is . They would charge 600 to ship it and i could drive my 2006 trade in down there a lot cheaper Lots of toyota dealers in Baltimore Area

 

I own a regular Prius. Love it.
BUT...

I live on the second floor of an Apt. Building. With parking quite a distance from entrance.

If there was any way I could have relatively simple access to charging? I'd want a Plug In Prius.

But as it is, I think having a PiP and NOT being able to conveniently plug in, would just be too frustrating.

But if all things are equal? I'd get a plug in.

 

I'm in Illinois, and went to New York to get mine a couple of years ago. Most of the dealers around Buffalo had plenty, and were all willing to negotiate. It was a cheap, easy one way flight out there, the dealers all offered to pick me up at the airport, and an easy, straight shot drive back. All Toyota dealers have someone trained to work on PIP's. However, since they see them so seldom, they have very limited experience, so serious problems are kind of like going to a doctor who has read all the right books but hasn't seen many patients. So far I haven't had any major problems, but am nervous for what will happen when I do.
