Installed TRD "Prius Plus" springs

    Ya, the wheels, your choice of lowering springs and your choice of bar can be had for around $1,800 shipped. I'm not sure what the body kit goes for but I think there are better options out there for 2010-11. I'm still waiting to see what they do for 2012 since the front fascia has been tweaked.

    Really think so, eh? Does it depend on how one drives? Also, how difficult is it to install (sway bar), do you know?

    I believe I saw the body kit for $865 on eBay.. All this plus install, but still lower..

    Here again is my old 2012 Three on TRDs with 205/50/17s. Less than 1 finger gap in the rear. Maybe 2 in the front.

    THANKS F8L!! That helps alot. What wheels were you running with the 4 finger gap? They don't look stock? I really only wanted a drop of 1" and I only know of the modellista springs. I always read the TRD springs lower 1.3" which is a bit much for me. But with stock wheels or even 16" and the right tires it should still look nice. I know the 17" look great with the TRD but I carry people in my car often and my rear would possibly scrape with 17" and 205/50.

    The picture is of my 2012 PIP but it is the same as the non-PIP. The PIP has different wheels.

    The TRD springs are a really mild drop. Because the rear wheels are able to tuck into the wheel well, you would have to carry some very heavy people to cause scraping. Still, two 200lb people and a trunk full of gear could cause a problem. In that case the 215/45/17 tire will provide more clearance since it is shorter than the 205/50/17 and the 195/65/15. My point is, if you are worried about scraping, choose a coilover kit or use the TRD springs but choose your wheel so it has no less than a 45mm offset then use a 215/45/17 tire. The Ecopia EP422 is pretty comfortable and fairly narrow in that size. :)

    do these springs work for a 2013 prius? How do you think it would look with 225x45x18?

    That's how the wheel wells are designed. To reduce the gap in front and increase it in the rear use H&R springs instead of TRDs.

    They do. Getting mine installed this weekend.

    For me, the 18's hit that threshold of looking over sized on this car. Check out the aftermarket wheel thread to get an idea of how they will look.

    225/45/18 will rub and are too tall if you are lowered. You need 225/40/18 tires.

    I always think either the gap front and rear needs to be the same or more in the rear to look nicer. More in the rear is always nice, then you get a more aggressive front down look and when you pile the kids in the back or whatever the car sits flat.

    Agreed. Unfortunately they are not built like that. The GenII was even worse. After 100k miles the nice person ends sags like you're carrying a load. :(

    Well if that's the case H&R Lowering springs I am sold on. I live in the UK and Toyota don't sell the lowering springs over here and will not import. So as much as I'd like to keep things OEM parts as much as I can, looks like I won't be on the springs.

    I still haven't installed mine, but just to review,,

    Lowering springs don't allow the tire to go any higher in the wheel well at full bump.
    That's controlled by the bump stops, which are built into the struts and shocks,, is this correct?
    And with the 'Prius Plus' setup there is no way you will have interference in the wheel wells, correct?
