I'm pretty happy with my Prius Prime. Just got 1000 miles On a tank of gas.

It's kinda funny in my post #13: Toyota doesn't explain the rational for either of the bullet points. The first is for brakes, the second for engine. But it'd be nice if they'd say.

@Terry Nyberg : regardless of your dealership's statement, Toyota says there's a break-in period. But: if you abide by speed limits, avoid drag racing, and drive in varied conditions, your fine. The one sneaky one: driving under speed/rpm for protracted periods. You want to vary engine load, helps break-in.

 

I don't like over analyzing things. It's 1000 km to break in the engine. If you never run in HV mode then your engine will never completely break in. That's hardly a problem as the fix would be to press that HV button.

If you think 300 km ICE intervals are short, try 200 km in the PiP.

 

Perhaps they need one of these.

 

i thought i read the ice comes on every 200 miles. pip is 124. if your ice came on, your mpg would drop from 199.9.

 

That's impressive. What's the EV/hv Ratio? Of course, this doesn't mean you can drive 2/3 across the USA
in Hybrid.

 

Yes all Prii are sensitive to various factors which can cause the engine to come on. Max pedal, Temp, Load.

Where do you find that ration?

 

In the middle screen, use the left or right button to go to i, use up or down to go to Drive Monitor. It will show your EV driving ratio. You can hit Trip on the left side of the steering wheel to see after start, after reset, Trip A, Trip B.

My Prime Premium just turned 1000 miles this week and still have an estimated 160 miles to go before needing to fill up. (I still have just under a half tank of the original that came with the car back in mid-January.) I’ll have to set up the Killawatt meter to see how much power it’s drawing and go back and compare the bills to see how much it cost in electric vs gas pricing for that period. (I did not drive it much this winter and on,y just started driving it more regularly at the end of March and then it was in the collision shop at the dealer for 3 weeks and just got it back again the week before last.)
