Thats what the instructions say...but its still not proper detailing technique.

Sal also says to use terrycloth towels...but microfiber towels are so much better and safer...

    Steve,

I understand what you're saying re: application -- it's an additional precaution which would be well-worth taking on a darker color.

Keep in mind, that when you're using back & forth strokes, the direction changes depending on panel location. If you're doing a horizontal panel (roof, hood or decklid top), you should use a motion going from the front of the vehicle to the back. If you're doing a vertical panel (fender, quarter panel or door), you should use an up & down motion going from the top of the panel towards the bottom.

    Yep!

Only exception is when washing, you don't want to drag the grit that is lower on the car up higher on the car...

Great tips, thanks. I'm going out in 30 minutes to wipe off the second Z5 FX application to my Barcelona Red baby and I'll try my best to keep your tips in mind when wiping off the Z5 residue.

So far I've managed to wash it about once a week... not sure how much longer I can keep that up! I bought the Zaino wash bucket too- love it. I can fill it with soap and water before I leave the house for work, screw the watertight lid on it and then get my car to a coin-op at lunchtime- leaving me with their water to spray/rinse and my own sheepskin mit and Zaino Car Wash and Zaino bucket for the gentle sudsing/dirt removal. I even have time to dry the entire car and get back to work before my lunch hour is over!

Please forgive the bad pix (cellphone cam). This is what it looks like, fresh out of the wash, before the 5th coat went on:
