    No.

We would have bought a Scion xB.

I agree. It's kind of like the beetle was for the 70's. Smaller, cuter and saved money compared to the other behemoths on the road at the time. If you change it's shape now, people just wouldn't identify with it quite the same.

Nope, I just have to get me a more comfortable car especially for longer trips. A Camry or Highlander Hybrid sounds just about right.

unless it's mountainous, and i don't recall that in atlanta, i get 60 mpg avg at 55 mph with a/c on.

If it got 30 MPG in the winter, I'd buy it in a second because I'd love to have a car that gets better mileage than my Prius currently gets.

    I don't understand the question.
I bought a Prius because I like the whole package. If Corolla only got 18mpg and Prius got 30, I'd buy a Prius still.

Very short drives (10 - 15 minutes or less), and those are entirely stop and go traffic (mostly stop), and that is on pretty hilly terrain. Add to that freezing New England weather (not using the heater is NOT an option) and from December to February, seeing north of 30 MPG is something that just doesn't happen. That also happened this July when we had two and a half weeks of non-stop muggy 100+ weather, and using the A/C was not an option there.

I console myself with the fact that any other non-electric vehicle would get even worse mileage.

I also console myself with the fact that despite the crappy mileage for a Prius, since I don't drive often I still only visit the gas station once a month or so.

No way would I buy it if it got only 30 mpg. I'd probably buy a Civic if that was the case. I'm not a huge Toyota fan but the Prius has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned.

If the Prius only got 30MPG, I would have ended up with a WRX STi hatchback/wagon with a custom tune and some aero bits so it would return ~26ish MPG.

Depends. At 30 MPG, it better make 300 hp and do 0-60 in 5 secs. Will it still have all the hybrid premium features? If the cost remains the same sure, I will get one. ;)

The new gen prius is kind of a tin can hatch with limited sound proofing
road noise still permeats the cabin much more than it ever should
30mpg? probably should go back and play with the late 80's 2dr accord hatches then. those cars just delivered and were a wonder to drive
    34mpg w/the 5spd easily
your corner fixit shop usually could repair most of the usual issues, minus the vacuum line frenzy honda was famous for
I'd never buy any of those other plasticky pieces of crap you see lining the lots, moronic looking body kits, gross
as to comparison, toyota is just a little off kilter now a days on quality control
    we have purchased a 2005 corolla,2008 matrix,2008 prius and now a
    2010 prius,
    corolla,body assembly issues,toyota buy back
    matrix,paint literally pealed off the front 1st 3k,mpg sucked,"sold"
08 prius, nice but flimsy feel to the extreme
current prius, just ok for now, plastic piece under the bumper fell off the 1st 10 miles of driving, chills of inferior build
Toyota can never be the same, and thats partly because Japan is not the same as it once was either

That is exactly what I had for more than two decades. :D It took a GenIII Prius to get me out of it.

Other than the fact I still like the Honda's external style better than the Prius, I have no regrets for this trade up. But if Prius had only 30 mpg, I'd still be commuting in that Honda, on the days I don't pedal.

The Prius (vs Corolla) offers exceptional technology via hybrid system, regenerative braking, outstanding MPG, tremendous cargo capacity, possibly "best in class" rear leg, head room and oh, don't forget: how about the best resell vehicle for the money? My money is hard to come by, so my choice is clearly the Prius over Corolla, Civic, Focus, Malibu, and on and on...
