I find it funny how you complain about incompetent drivers. Try living in Florida where a large number of the population is over 70 and can barely see over the steering wheel of their 88 Cadillac Fleetwood (get the picture!). I had the same woman on two different occasions cut me off from two lanes over to finally make a right turn ( I was in the turn lane) At least the second time I recognized her car and told my wife to watch her as she may "do it again". Sure enough she decides to make the turn at the last minute again from a lane over. Defensive driving is not just a cute saying down here; it is a lifesaver!

I would practice Offensive Driving in that scenario, such as:

Round 2! and still a woman driver although not as bad this time. It would have been nice to see the front wheel slip in the ditch instead of the rear.

Why drive on my lawn? I have a big nice person driveway! If you cant drive it, DONT DRIVE IT!

Most people can't drive W A F anyway, not to mention they take their specific vehicle past the limits of their skill and vehicle dynamics ( tires, brakes, suspension, center of gravity) then we get into drag coefficient of the surface, skid marks, yaw etc.......

I will assume that you don't know who this person was, which makes their abuse of your lawn just that much more of an affront!

And, yes, I use that same quote all the time: If you can't drive it, DON'T!

Although I do know people who can not figure out the actual corners of the car they drive. I think that's the most important thing: I know a couple people who can't keep a straight line in their lane because they spend too much time looking at their corners "trying to figure" how to stay in the lines.....instead of instinctively staying in the center. Even with my Prius, which has a back up camera, I notice it's not something you can use to figure the outmost parts of the bumper. I think it's better for an emergancy *no kids around my bumper* scenario, but I still look back to check all my back angles.

Don't let them play this game in your driveway. When your neighbor is having a yard sale....or whenever you see traffic coming up your dead end street. Block off your driveway....put up 3' orange cones.....

Why let these idiots tear up your property.......Keep the off your property. !!!

Once was in the DMV in Vienna, Illinois, to get my license renewed. There was an older man getting a vision check for his license renewal. He couldn't see anything on the chart. They passed him anyway.

Well Teh Danzor how about Mr. George Ryan our secretary of state and gov. doing time in prison. Selling commercial drivers licenses (truck) to people who could not read or speak english let alone drive a tractor trailer semi and how many people died as a result of these drivers.

I know! It's truly amazing, isn't it? Motor vehicles are dangerous pieces of equipment, no matter how many safety features are on them, and they should be treated as such, especially when licensing their use. Not saying that it would fix everything, but it'd help some, at least.
