I assume you are referring to a Non Pip ? I thought my 2005 and the Pip are hatchback type vehicles? Clarification please.......?

Interesting on our Gen2 we always just shut off, even for the PITA driveway move. Seems auto makers have generally beefed up metallurgy of the exhaust system to the point where the condensed water is less concern for rusting through like it used to. Also we have much less sulfur SOx in the fuel/exhaust now, so that presumably helps minimize the corrosivity of the water. Perhaps for these reasons, I have not heard quite so many generic articles about how bad it is to give cars a short start-up and shut down. If moving in a driveway I generally try to shut it off quickly to generate less water, but not sure that helps.

For some reason since the PiP was released, T seems to be calling the non PiP the "liftback". Does not make much sense to me due to fact the PiP has same body.

It could be the fact the prius C and prius V were also released around same time, and maybe the C is a "hatchback" and the V is a "wagon".

Lots of models now in prius family, I would like to see plug in option in all the body styles someday.

. All Prii were hatchbacks, lift backs except the first model ( 97 - 2003 ). ????? Excepting the latest models Prius V. I think it is clearer and more precise to refer by model and year instead of the fuzzy term "hatchback" Sounds like a failed egg breakout.

. I suppose if you live in a climate that is generally less than freezing, and park outside it may be a problem. But what can one do about it anyway? Except regular oil changes.

. Bisco was the only one that commented on this post, since then I counted the stop signs at 8 plus stopping at the PO. 61 mpg is a truly phenomenal figure in all HV, ie: engine only. Now some of the HV battery portion may have contributed to that figure, I was not sure how or if I could denote this with out a scan guage. The end point is that for the most part is either engine flooding nor excessive condensation a problem. So if your engine comes on as you are parking, don't sweat it.

Maybe T has other plans for the PiP and will always sell the "Liftback" Prius as such. Gives T quite a bit of leeway on future PiP plans. Particularly since the PiP uses a different type of battery.
