i screwed up and had to leave a bit early. charge wasn't finished and ev range said 12.5 instead of 12.9. ice never came on but i don't think i accomplished any testing.

Sorry for the delay. Christmas season is hectic around here. How do you determine the temperature the HVAC is set to when it's off? Mine just shows the outside temp and nothing else on the entire display.

if you turn the fan on, the hvac temp shows on the display.

I always drive with the fan off. Usually even with the radio off. I was just assuming people could see a temp even when it was off, but now I see they mean when the A/C compressor was off and not the fan.

if the temp is above 'low', it doesn't matter if the fan is off. the computer still thinks you want heat and starts the engine.

It was shopping time again, like last week. About 7 mile round trip, the temp outside was 45, HVAC at 68 with fan off. The ICE did not come on at all. I also noticed that the charge was at 11.1 when I started and 7 when I got back.

68 and no ice? that's amazing. mine fires right up if the coolant is cold.

My car sat outside overnight as usual, but it was pretty mild last night (in the high 40's to 50deg) this morning when I was ready to use the car it was already 52deg outside. Happily the ICE did not fire up this morning on my street as it's done on the colder mornings lately. I was able to run in full EV mode till I got to the Expressway and hit 65mph. So in comparison to yesterday's poor 74mpg due to ICE firing up early, headwind with rain- today I got 92mpg at the end of my 28mi commute.:)

That was also the first time I used the car that day.

How do you tell what the temperature is set to when the fan is off? Turning the fan on to get a glimpse of the temperature is likely to fire the ICE if it hadn't already, so that's not a good way to go about it.

put the car into ON mode (two pushes on the power button without depressing the brake pedal) before starting it. no other way really.
EXCEPT…Torque users, is there a way to see this value in the app?

Edit: Personally, I just always leave it at that temperature. Thankfully, haven't had a need to run the climate control at a higher temp yet. But basically that is your best bet, just remember to always set it to LO before turning the car off.

I've tried to see battery voltage while looking at my ScanGaugeII when in ACC mode. No luck doing that tho:cry:

i meant while the car is running. i.e. see the temperature setting without turning on the fan.

No way to see the climate control temp in Torque that I know of. It doesnt seem likely to be a piece of data available from the OBD2 port.. but I'm no expert.

I just leave mine in LO all the time as you suggest.. works for me. Not as convenient, but I try not to use climate control at all anyway.. big change for me since my last car was pretty much always set to 70 with AC on...

if the fan is off and the ice isn't firing, i wouldn't worry about it. i was just saying, if anyone is wondering why the ice is firing, the problem might be that temp is above 'low'. many think having the fan off will keep the ice off. doesn't work that way in my car, although el dobro has been able to drive with temp at 68, no fan and no ice. i definitely believe each car is a little different.

I would think that a nice detailed letter to Customer Service Toyota would at the very least let them know what is happening. Maybe it is a software update, or a very correctable condition. Two letters, one to the Dealer and one to Toyota National.

When you set the temp, it holds the setting even after you shut down and restart the car.
