Same with me. I can drive strictly in EV only with no ICE. I don't turn on the Front defrost. I have it in ECO and EV mode and no ICE. I drive about 21 miles one way in all EV. If I need a strong front defrost, I use the Prime app while it is plugged in and turn on the heat and defrost on hot before I get to the car so I have no need for defrost while I drive, which would kick the ICE on. Sometimes when I have my windshield wipers on and the climate control on AUTO ECO setting, it will put the air flow to the front windshield and vents without the ICE. I am learning the tweaks without using the ICE.

In the mornings lately, it has been as low as upper 20's in the mornings to 60 or 70s during the day. I treat the front defrost button as the plague in order to keep the ICE from coming on and it works. No ICE. I always keep it in EV only mode and not EV AUTO mode. It is also hilly in the Upstate of South Carolina which is where I'm at.

Ok, here's the latest: When I approached my car the green led was lit in the charging port (charged battery 24 hours ago) Probably traction battery warmer. Temperature displayed on dash: 32 degrees F checked temperature on phone for Clawson Michigan 28 degrees F. Made my usual left turn onto 14 mile road accelerated to 35 MPH set cruise. got to Crooks road ( 1 mile away) turned right accelerated to 45 MPH turned right on 15 mile road accelerated to 40 MPH, turned right on Livernois accelerated to 35 MPH. slowed down to 25 MPH (speed trap in front of police station) turned right on 14 mile road and proceeded home. ICE did NOT come on, I repeat, ICE did not come on:D

My conclusion is if the Traction Battery heater is between charges ( twelve hours between charges) and I'm unlucky enough to be before the next heating cycle then ICE will probably come on.

I had the impression that the battery heater function purpose is to minimize the low temp hit on EV range and probably for battery health, but not to eliminate ICE firing at temps in the twenties and thirties while you still have EV range.
    - Battery heater can be cancelled altogether in setting by the owner.
    - PiP has no battery heater and ICE is not started at these temperatures.
The problems you have encountered are not, IMO, battery heater related, and I think you should check what else you did differently in the last test?

I disagree completely about PIP ICE not starting at those temperatures both my 2012 and 2015 PIP ICE would kick in if outside temperature was 50 degrees or below, Remember my cars are outside ( not in a garage). Like I said in previous posts ICE kicked in when I scheduled departure time to 9 AM with Climate Prep enabled. I found that if I charge my Prime immediately when departing the car and then getting into my car the next day ICE would not kick in. I know how to turn off/on the Traction Battery heater.

I charge the traction battery immediately at plugin each time in the evenings, which might also effect the ICE not coming on in the mornings when it is in the 20s and 30s. I also leave it plugged in all night until I have to leave in the mornings at 6.

Not mine and not everybody else's, AFAIK.

Toyota recommends to use timer whenever possible and finish charging close to departure, it is much better for battery health.

ok, list them and remember if the car is housed in a garage it doesn't count, and I will need proof that the cars are in fact housed outside

    We can go-on forever...
My impression from your reports here is: either you have something wrong in your car (unlikely), or you do something 'incorrect' which forces the ICE. But I could be wrong.
