But if I understand, when not in EV mode the PIP software will decide when to use the EV capacity. So my first question (as a first-time Prius owner to be) is, how good a job will the software do of making the decisions, so maybe I don't have to.

To make good decisions, I would like the software to be tied in to GPS. An example, it's Friday and I'm on my way home. The software knows that I've taken this route for the last four days and will put more emphasis on electric as I get close to my garage. But, let's say I'm going on a road trip after work on Friday. The software recognizes that I'm driving away from its electric feeding station, so it lets the ICE take a larger role. You would need the option to turn off intelligent GPS mode because there would be some people concerned about privacy which is understandable.

If you want to use less battery in HV mode, flick your foot with a bit more pressure.

I think that is part of the fun, just more so than the regular Prius.

The bold text implies that it maintains the charge.

Assume 49 MPG on the highway HV mode and pure EV in the city. We know the blend is expected to be 87 MPGe. That would make the city 118 MPGe.
