    Or perhaps Hyundai's insight/Prius/Volt/Corolla/Dart look-alike

I was in the same park felt. I pulled the trigger on a used pip. but something about the Gen 4 is getting me excited. I suspect we will see it in 2 more months before the official reveal in sept. It might be worth the wait

Ah, but what did we see in the other picture? GEN3 wheels in Black. Would Hyundai go so far as to put 2012+ Prius wheels as a decoy on their Prius copy?
It seems that it could very well be the 4th gen Prius. The whole car appears a bit lower which goes along with the lower center of gravity they've been talking about for years.
I don't think the rear end pic looks sedan. I'll bet that hatch glass flows right into the spoiler. But, the rear end height definitely looks lower.

This is the best pic yet. It looks to be the same vehicle spied in the U.S.

My view is that the designers again felt that it still has to look like a Prius and therefore the changes won't be as dramatic as speculated. On the other hand the shrouding could be hiding greater differences. Who really know whether it will look much better than the genIII after the shrouding is off? I hope that rear head room isn't compromised.

So the biggest differences may be better millage, better handling (due to lower center of gravity), upgraded interior, possibly all wheel drive. All of those things will matter more to me anyway.

I would like the equivalent if the IV trim level to be more upscale than the current generation with heated steering wheel and memory power drivers seat. That would tempt my wife to support a change. Prius Team, are you listening (or is it too late)?

Like I said before the 2016 Prius borders the secrecy of the Manhattan Project during the early 1940's. Why was Toyota not displaying the 2016 Prius at any of the International Auto Shows? Just might be that Toyota may have nothing new to offer for the next generation Prius.

Or with everyone on their heels they will make it to 58 mpg with a nice looking car. Cars are still not matching the gen 3, and speculation and public goals states Toyota wants to do 55 (10% increase). So car manufacturers can already expect that. Toyota can then unveil a surprise (58 mpg, larger than 10% increase with already plans to make the following gen 10% more efficient at least...maybe Toyota will prove 75 mpg is not too far off)

Where will you refuel it? California will be the only place and a few stations at that. Moving from one cartel to the next (with many of the same players), this hydrogen fascination boggles the mind.

vinnie97 - My comment was not to be taken too seriously. But I did not imply WHEN.

But that said, Toyota seems to be taking hydrogen very seriously. I recently read of an interview with a Toyota authority, and he spoke like Toyota expects to be a hydrogen trail blazer (my term) like they were with the gas hybrid.

In addition, some of the comments on this thread suggest that the gasoline ICE is near the best efficiency that can be achieved. I have long suspicioned that future improvements in the Prius will be more and more difficult to achieve in a mass-produced, environmentally clean family sedan for a world environment.

The difficult part is in getting more Americans to buy it, or even a 40+mpg hybrid, in order for it to have a real impact on the nation's fuel consumption.

Or they don't want to stop genIII sales dead in their tracks.

royrose - I'm not sure I agree. It certainly does not stop other manufacturers. Drop the price, and last years model will sell. I am more inclined to believe that Toyota does not want to drop the price. Just an opinion.

From the few rumors, and several of the depictions that have been seen over the past 6 months or so, I might be inclined to buy a new 2015 (if I were in the market, which I am not). We shall see.

Off topic, Watching the news, I believe Toyota is the largest manufacturer of military vehicles in the world (LOL)

Fair enough, and they certainly have given a public face to the idea of hydrogen being the future. I wish them well. The original hybrid was a trailbrazing venture I was excited about and couldn't wait to buy in (once my price point was reached, with Gen 3). This venture that requires gobs of new infrastructure leaves me cold, and I wish them luck.

They were making trucks during WWII. It had one headlight because of resource constraints.
Further off topic, Toyota, Honda, and other Japanese manufacturers were making sewing machines, and perhaps other appliances, during the reconstruction years after the war. They were sold under brand names like Sunbeam, but open one up, and the parts have the companies' name.

When Toyota says sportier maybe they're talking performance not looks. Actually the real question is "sportier" than what? Virtually anything would be sportier than the current Prius, so the bar is not set very high. Toyota could put a strip down the side and say there!

my word isn't the end-all word…I also saw another image of the same car, with the 5-point Gen 3 rims in black...I am thinking that, based on this rendering I am attaching, what you saw could very well be the Gen 4. The pillar and the stationary window in the back door and pillar and stationary window in the front doors look very similar…as does the rakish slope of the profile

but this is just all speculative opinion…

Here is the other view of the possible-Gen 4…

Looks like the exhaust pipe can be seen behind the right rear wheel in the latest photo. Was wondering to that point if they could be concealing a full BEV.
