The reduction of the back beeper would be worth the trip from another planet. It will still beep once when reverse is selected but then no more. What a relief. I just had mine done.

As for the display I've seen some posts where there was something obstructing the reflective display, like a piece of paper. They removed the paper and all is good. Just a thought.

I totally agree, I knew more about the Prius than my salesperson did.

I wish my dealer informed me that a week and a half after buying my car that my catalytic converter would need to be replaced. Or at least they could've ran a test on my car prior to me purchasing it seeing as how they didn't offer me a warranty either. MEANIES!

I thought catalytic converters were considered part of the emissions system and warranted for 5 yr/100,000 miles?

Would have loved to hear about the customizing options, instead of reading about them in the manual, especially the backup beeper. Now I have to make another trip to the dealer and that ranks up there with a root canal for me.

Its a easy fix. If the dealer is charging you for it I'll do it for free. I just did mine not too long ago.

Yesterday I had my dealer disable the seatbelt beep for both the driver and passenger side. He also changed the interior lights to stay on for 7.5 seconds instead of 15 (after the car shuts off). He initially said that it was $45 to do so (tech piece work)..I politely told him that wasn't happening and said that it's "literally a 5 minute job," which is true. He had me pull my car in, hooked up the laptop, and he was done in under 5 minutes, free of charge. Sweet!

Good for you. I'm just awestruck that dealers willingly disable seatbelt chimes since it's a federal standard. I can understand the backup beep since that hasn't made its way into the fed standards for all vehicles. :)

yeah..i was a bit surprised as well..at first he was reluctant..but i think he just wasn't sure if it could be done..not b/c it's a federal standard.. once we were in there w/the laptop, i just helped him find out where it was (under 'warnings') and he took care of it..so nice! so, is it actually a federal standard that all new cars have a seatbelt warning engaged?

When I was shopping for a new Prius (11), I was offered a III for 1000 more than a sale priced II. When I asked the difference he said that basically the radio (6 cd and better speakers and blutooth. Had I known satellite radio was included, I would have paid the difference. That being said, I'm enjoying the car and am not an audio buff, the II's radio is good enough for me.

I bought mine at Toyota of Bowie in Maryland and the guy I worked with did a tour of the Prius and everything it could do. I was really surprised he was so thorough. Reading the manual now I can't find too much he didn't touch on, but I'm sure I'll find "surprises" down the road. :)

I bought mine used from a dealer and salesperson knew very little about the car. He told me it was his first day.
I really wish he could have showed me how to put my iPhone contacts on the hands free phone.
Is there a place here on PC that explains that?

My dealer was awesome! He spent over an hour with us, showing us how everything worked. In fact his exact words were "we are going to have a Prius class". And he offered to re-program any of the bells and buzzers (back up, etc) that we found annoying. There was not one single thing that was not covered. Wonderful wonderful dealership - Street Toyota in Amarillo. PM me for my salesman's name if you need a referral.... he's been with the same dealership 16 years and he is smart and does a fantastic job!
