I hope/expect my Prius will last X miles.

One of three options in my case.
My July 04 now has 70k miles, so I'll either:
1-Trade it in on an 06 this year when I hit about 85k miles (I'm guessing this will be max resale value before the hybrid system is out of warranty).
or
2-Keep my 04 for another 2-3 years or 200k+ miles.

3-Or keep if for another 20 years, it will be an antique and highly desirable for the first year, new technology, very low volume model(about 25,000 made).

 

I voted for at least 200K. My 10-year old Saturn has almost 179K on it and I didn't expect it to last this long (I've had it for just over 9 years myself). Seeing that the Prius is a Toyota, it should have no problem (I hope) surpassing my Saturn in terms of mileage. I hope to keep it for a minimum of 10 years as well.

 

I voted for 300k, but I do expect to replace some parts before then. The windshield at least because it is already slightly cracked and repaired, but those repairs don't last indefinitely.

If the big battery poops out, the latest price I have heard for the classic's was about $1100. That price sounds like a better deal than buying two salvage packs and picking out the best modules.

Pretty much an open question on the other hybrid-specific parts, but again the salvage yards would be an alternative to full retail. Some (but not all) of the suspension components have appeared on the non-Toyota suppliers' lists.

On any earlier car I would have said the radiator, but this long-life coolant seems to keep it looking like new. The main thing is to keep it from _becoming_ a salvage parts donor, in other words, eyes up!

@ 30,000 miles per year... i say 150,000 miles for me (5 years), but i'd be very happy if it can do 200,000 miles.
