Featured Hybrid sales picking up in 2023

Hybrids are like natural gas: I think it is good transition step from coal/gasoline, enviros think it's bad.

 

I don't think most environmentalists think they are bad, but the transition is already happening. With cost of batteries so low today it just makes more sense to add a plug and a bigger pack. Even some franken phevs the mercedes C63 which replaced a v8 with a i4 and a 4.4kwh battery (less than 10 miles aer range) make more sense than just making it a hybrid. In the next decade as phev costs continue to go down relative to hev I can't see how something like the rav4 prime doesn't greatly outsell the rav 4 hybrid, in toyota would just make more of them.

 

It's a vocal minority that think they're bad. Those type of groups get more press because minority opinions generate more clicks.
The majority enviro opinion on hybrids is probably every car should be one at least.

 

@bwilson4web, today's Tesla stock crash is why I warned you about concentrated positions. Perhaps invest in a market fund instead.

That may be short-lived - as California (the largest market & leader of all things CARB) has plans on eliminating regular hybrids in a decade

Hindsight is 20/20. Never mind Tesla—we would have all bought the Bitcoin when it was very cheap if we knew. Like Tesla, it is no longer doing that great.

I did not give a buy or sell advice on Tesla. I advised against concentrated positions. Having a concentrated short position is as bad as having a concentrated long position.

 

Guess it also crashed in Oct/Nov.

 

It hasn't been doing well lately. Its risk/return ratio is not good anymore.

I am planning to add when the price gets lower. Haven’t sold a share since it hit $300 about a year ago.

I’ll probably buy when my refund comes in.

BTW, I have a small, speculative position in REE.

At one time I had money in funds but sold for a small loss.

I bought back in yesterday at 181 (stock a spread and sold a put. Had got out at around 200 and it kept rising. Think of this as a healthy correction that went a little too far

 

To each his own, you are most certainly playing with fire by not diversifying - Good luck, Tesla is an American Company, I wish them only the best.
If you wait even longer to buy you will get a much, much lower price on Tesla stock.

I like the stock price drop article - claiming it's because rear view cameras may go dark article. Lol. I suppose people that don't use their rear view mirrors & side view mirrors have issues, especially since many modern cars are very difficult to see out of. But a drop in stock price? Have we stock purchasers all become buy/sell freaks of nature - based on the last millisecond of price fluctuation due to good or bad news rumors? At one point I was at an aerospace / private company subcontractor that didn't allow you to take your employee stock out in a any major quantity until you put in a 90 day notice. God forbid we should ever do something like that to not wipe out a company value. Instead though we allow even senators to buy & sell off of their own supported legislation.
