Ha ha... I really wonder how these people drive these cars.

In my 1996 Integra with 185,000 miles, I averaged 7.97L/100km (29.6MPG) for January 1st through today (2708 miles) in my daily commuting.

In contrast, last summer (June 1 - Aug 31), I averaged 7.99L/100km over a span of 6838 miles. Same traffic mix.

This is commuting across Toronto daily, with a fairly even mix of highway and stop & go traffic. This car is rated 25/31MPG - my lifetime average is 8.17L/100km - but have never really seen a dramatic drop in mileage in the winter. In terms of driving habit, I generally shift early to maximize mileage but not in an eccentric way. ;) Granted Ottawa is further north and a little colder than Toronto, but still should not be *that* drastic of a difference, especially considering the "winter" we have had this year.

So I am just asking myself what they could have possibly been doing to get *that* bad mileage.

Though I do find it rather amusing that I was getting better mileage in my car than the HCH. :)

    Tideland:

thanks this confirms my findings too.....it dropped to -12 the other AM! Have you experienced problems with heater?? After a 25 mile/30min trip to work, mine still didn't warm up....have you tried changeing therostats or any other mechnical changes??

also we just turned over 11,000 miles and I haven't noticed any increase in MPG, as mentioned in previous posts...

    thanks again-

your a perfect candidate for a rad blocker. If your in the cold climate area of the country you can block it off and reap benifits both in FE and interior heat.

me? heater? no. We don't drop below zero here haha.

These past few mornings we've been hovering around the freezing mark (still positive though) and the engine's warm quite soon actually. Although it was partially warm from the day before and the fact that I leave the heater off for the first... ooh 10 mins so I can let the engine shut off at lights.

Works though since I just refuelled and my calculated average was 4.47L/100km (~53mpg) with the MFD showing 4.7L/100km (50mpg)
