HV Battery to ECU wiring diagram? Installing one PIP 1.1kWh module in a Gen 2.

    just thinking about it, I am in your shoes in the sense that I am waiting along with you all! Heh.. uhh, I'm waiting on the parts for my car like headlights and others.. sure those delays aren't what keep that car, but the Gen 2 I'm building. So while I tinker versus twiddling my thumbs, just know I want this all working faster than you can sneeze and fart at the same time!

    Honestly, I'll take it, this admission is growth but also confirms I am actually right-regardless of reason for being unable to buy anything.

    I also haven't received *any* communication around the inability to order as it relates to a transition to a new fulfillment structure. What is the timeline expected before this transition starts to take hold?

    A simple pop-up when first landing on the site would be very welcome, just communicate with people!

    *Edit: I did need to make a revision to my earlier post for a typo. The money I spent attempting to order the roof rack was held for 2 months, not 8, before I escalated the situation to Paypal*

    well... to close this out for now... ill say this, versus telling someone something wont work... like.. explaining why... would've saved a lot of back and forth. I wonder if anyone even knew this or just all threw out it wont work...

    PHEV module as a whole 346V divided by four is 86.5V where the Gen 2 needs a good 202V, now I could add more cells but for now, working with a circuit designer to see about some sort of step up boost controller. :) why didnt someone mention these stats on the volts sooner?

    I guess to say, its one thing to tell a person no or it won't work, versus actually providing facts to support your rebuttal. makes me think no one knew this and just posting for $hits and giggles it won't work.

    Having not really paid much attention to this thread, you were trying to get a 86v battery to work in a Gen 2?

    well in my head, it worked out differently... this was before I spent time learning Prius HV batteries and sleuthing the internet. My thought was 4.4kWh battery and one cell would be 1.1kWh and since factory Gen 2 is 1.31kWh I figured better battery chemistry, I might as well give it go! I mean, I've yet to see anyone mention a similar usage and I had the modules plus a Gen2 test car... heh. point goes, yall should be more forthcoming when you say things wont work... let folks know why or point them to a thread that does!

    To me, understanding the voltages involved in a system IS basic legwork. I don't know how many people in the Gen2 forum know (or care) about operational details of a (Gen3) PIP.

    So if any readers assumed that you had done some basic homework (because that's what you said), then we were wrong?

    Considering folks are quick to post smart aleck responses including yours, one would think, it's typically done where people provide details even when assuming someone might know or not... normally you post the facts to let an OP know they are wrong, but hey... what do I know, I thought this would've worked and looked to those I thought not only knew the answers to all but would let me know when I am wrong with good details... wrong forum I guess.

    Clearly whatever prelim leg work that was done, needed to go back to the gym

    Nowhere in any of your posts did you mention voltages. Do you think we all know what the HV battery voltages are for every hybrid and BEV out there? Most likely everyone assumed the voltages would be similar, because that is such a basic requirement. Do you install a 1.5v D cell battery in place of the 12v battery in your car and expect it to work? I would venture to say if you had mentioned any of those voltages, it would have been questioned, but most likely would have been ignored. You can't blame other posters for your error when you typically just ignore advice anyway, with the usual reason being "no one thinks out of the box like you do"

    There was a hint in post 18......

    ALL of the onboard systems that use the HV battery are designed with a specific set of parameters to
    use THAT EXACT battery efficiently.
    Putting in a different kind of battery .......with a slightly different peak voltage and current and a different internal resistance
    profile is likely to NOT play well with the rest of the electronics.

    No, I don't much about the PIP. I do see quite a few hybrids from all makes (plus a few EVs), but the only one I know in any detail is the Gen2 Prius - partly because I own one and it's also the most popular/old hybrid in my area. I haven't done any major repairs on anything else.

    you know, not blaming anyone, all of this is I in my exploration of all things Hybrid Synergy nothing is guaranteed. When you go into the realm of the unknown you assume all risks and take responsibility when your theories dont pan out how you thougtht.

    oh and Touché on the hint from post 18, I for one know I'm not perfect but that little gem really was hidden in there.

    but separately, that quote is incorrect... after upgrading my PIP HV battery, all that different peak voltage and current is all false news... my HV upgrade did not conform to OE specs and works without any additional bms.

    hell yeah man, I'll call myself out and stand behind what I do, I know I dont know all about the Prius and what makes them function but I plan to find out all that I can.

    what I've noticed, the PIP aka the PHEV is all unfamiliar territory for most and can be considered a completly different vehicle than the non PIP. they are almost rare in essence and most who own them dont modify or deviate from anything OEM. at this rate though, soon as I get this property il going to start buying all of the phev Prii I see.
