This all began in June, and it has been sitting all this time I would assume.

OK. What was the total cost of the repair?

Congratulations on your success! This is not an easy job if you don't have prior experience in this area.

Just scanned the entire thread quickly and it still isn't clear to me which option the OP took to repair the HV battery: swapping out individual bad modules, or swapping with a salvage battery or a rebuilt battery? It would be nice to know and see how long the repair lasts. Thanks!

I believe my husband paid $40 each for two modules. So if you don't include the 12V battery we replaced first, it cost us $124 for the safety gloves I insisted him buy and $80.00 for the mods. MUCH BETTER than the $4600/$4700 Toyota quoted.

    Mike Mc,
No we did not take photos. But this was really not near as hard as we had anticipated. Of course I can say that since I sat and watched most of it . I will post here updates on how the car does as time passes. If you have any questions Mike, I am sure my husband would welcome them. Just PM me and I'll get you his number.

What a great story! Kudos to Sherri and her husband for sticking with it and completing a very difficult (in my opinion) repair. Many, Many thanks to Patrick, usnavystgc and many others who took the time to help Sherri through this.

I think this is a prime example of why we are all here on this forum, helping one another and learning that contrary to common beliefs we can work on these cars ourselves.

I know I know, who is gonna say it. Can we all hold hands now!

I ran my 2004 in "limp" mode for about 3 weeks waiting for availability of my replacement HV battery. It had a reversed cell in one module.

One of my modules was 1.2 volts lower than the others which is the symptom of a failed (shorted) cell due to reversal. At that point in the life of my HV battery (195k miles), it (and some of its modules) had gotten out of balance so when my Prius was asked to run the battery down in overall voltage, one cell in one module discharged to 0 volts and then the current caused that cell to try to charge in the opposite direction which is a no no.
