How to remove HOV stickers for return to CA DMV

here's your challenge...
you only have another 6 months to use the stickers as they expire on 7/1/11. and regardless how efficient you are in sending the required transfer docs and fees to the DMV, i wouldn't expect you to get the new stickers and certificate for 45-60 days (due to govt. inefficiency & holidays).
so, bottomline...if i was you i would drive and enjoy what you have until 7/1, then take off all the stickers permanently.
i've never been hassled by a cop in my 3.5 years of doing the carpool lane (and haven't ever seen another Prius hassled as well).
so, save yourself $8 and drive it as-is.
