Thank your for the kind esplanation.

My Prime, which is a ‘2017, showns around 1.2 l/100 km overall which more than a guess,I believe, since is calculated over the 31000 km (20000 mi) travelled so far with mixed use of EV and HV modes.

Anyway, like your Prime(s) the extimated EV range after charge completion increases with the OAT, and the maximum estimated range I have seen some days ago was over 73 km (45 miles) with 33 C OAT. It dropped immediately to 66 km once I started the A/C, though…

Actually, it is a guess and it's not based on all your miles. It's based on your most recent driving. My driving has a wide range. Sometimes I have to drive a road engineered by OPEC that's 60 mph with a stop about every mile. I do well to get 4.5 m/kWh on that road. The day after I do that, the GOM will predict something like 25 miles. But on my regular daily commute, I get about 5.4 miles/kWh. Next day, the GOM will predict about 32 miles. ;)

I think @E-GINO comment refers to the lifetime MPG that displays next to ODO mileage, not the GOM. 1.2 l/100 km is 196 mpg, which is an excellent number only achievable if the most of accumulated miles 31000 km (20000 mi) are driven on the EV mode. This number, although for the US models we know it is inflated somewhat, is not a guess. It is a calculated value from the entier miles driven / amount of gasoline used per sensor in the car for mpg. In EU models, it is converted to the number as shown, amount of gasoline used per sensor in the car / 100miles, which I think US models can also display from the setting IIRC.

Right you are! I got derailed up by the change from predicted EV range to actual gas mileage. (kilometerage? :D)

My answer, overnight every night, for an 8 am departure. On days that I expect to drive again in the evening I charge immediately after returning from my morning run. Most weeks I use no gas as my daily round trip is less than 30 miles. I was glad to recently do a 1000+ mile trip to finally "break in" the hybrid engine a bit. I have about 6500 miles on my 2021 Prime Limited.

In California, the gas does not store well. If you allow the gas to sit in the tank for more than a few weeks you will have problems. You should use at least 3/4 of a tank each month and refill.

Never lived in CA, but what makes CA gas to go bad so quickly? I can't think of any reason CA is any different from the rest of the country. As the manual suggests, refuelling at least half of the tank (5.3gal) every 12 months should be good enough in all part of the US.

It must be different. Why else would it cost so much more? Actually, for what they charge there for gas, it should last forever.

One reason California gasoline costs so much is that the state mandates a particular blend for air pollution control. And this blend is only produced in California. So when the refineries go down for regularly scheduled maintenance, there is a shortage, so the price goes up. And $0.51/gal state excise tax doesn't help + about $0.11/gal for state sales tax. This is all on top of the federal $0.18/gal tax that everyone pays..

I know. The laughing face means it's a joke. But then again, there may be people who don't know that about CA, so it's good to let them know. ;)

Having lived in California for ten years, I understand that one pays a lot to subsidize everything from "freeways" to open space.

Now living in one of the "CARB" states which subscribe to the California Air Resource Board emission standards (Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state and Washington D.C.), we owe you a debt of thanks because without California's huge automobile market and leadership, we'd be be suffering from significantly lower air quality on both coasts.

I know that won't help you pay for gasoline, but I hope it makes you feel a little better.

In Quebec and most other parts of Canada (otherwise known as “not Alberta”) we are…bemused…at the notion that gasoline is expensive anywhere in the US. And, of course, Europeans laugh at North America re: “expensive fuel prices” (as they should).

Yes, but you get so many more liters than we get gallons for the same amount of money!

And. as the late pianist/humorist Victor Borge observed: "In Europe, distances are measured in kilometers. A kilometer is shorter than a mile. Therefore people don't need to go as far."

The only time I have ever used the 120 volt charger that came with my 2019 Prime, after the second week of ownership, was at a state park, where I was able to run an extension cord (10 gauge) out of the restroom over to the car. I bought an L2 charger on Amazon the week after I bought the car, so all of the home charges are 240 volt. All of the public EV chargers I use are L2, although I have seen L1 chargers at a few locations. NOTE: I carry a 25 foot, 10 gauge extension cord in the car with the L1 charger, but so far have only found 2 occasions to use it. 5.5 hours for a charge is usually more time than I can spare. I wish all PHEV's came with 6 kW chargers.

The charger that comes with the car is 120V or 240V. Feed it 240V and it is an L2 charger.

Not fully L2. The one that comes with the car is limited to 12A. An L2 is 16A so it charges about 1/3 faster.

It charges my 2021 in 2 hours or less every time. That's L2 level and since it was free it gets bonus points!

Two hours at 12A?? Unless ... Hmmm ... I notice that you have a 2021. Perhaps your EVSE is different than earlier years and will charge at 16A. I haven't seen any mention of that but that would be cool!!

do not know, but this is what I see when I plug it in. It does take about 2 hours and a few minutes most of the time to bring it to 100% 20210827_192005.jpg
