i have been shopping for a 2009 prius touring package 6 (gray metallic) for the past several weeks. i have contacted close to 50 dealers in northern california. i am using a nummi discount document from my brother in law ( a nummi employee). so far, the out the door price range is from $27,300 to over $30,000. i am hoping to get it down to $25,000 since that's all we've got. i know the sales taxes and license fees are going up in April. i am hoping that there are additional rebates in April to bring the price further down due to the introduction of the 2010 models. so now, i don't know if i should still wait or if this is the best pricing i could get. any advise would be greatly appreciated.
got my 2007 Black Prius with package#6 with 5yr warranty, including taxes and everything and them paying off a 2004 Chevy Cavalier that i owed $6k on for $35,500. think i got a pretty decent deal. considering i also bought it in february of 2007 and they had to send out for the car...you get better deals for stuff they have on the lot.
'09 Prius Touring Silver Pine Mica w/ Package #3 No Trade-In $23,582 - Selling Price $589.50 - Document Fees $705.98 - Sales Tax NC (3% on Vehicles) $72 - Title Fee $24,900 - Out the Door Was in inventory. 4 dealers vying for our business essentially Pretty pleased with pricing. Love this car! Someone finally put a computer on wheels. Wow!
I just got mine 3/18/09. 09 Package 3 with carpeted floor mats, bumper protector, full tank of gas, free oil changes for 3 years, out the door with new plates for $23,765. I think I did ok, not great, but ok.
Just to follow up...the dealer turned me down on my 22k offer for a 2008 prius package 6 (w/ 8000 miles). She said her invoice price was 22,800 and change. After some emails back and forth, I realized the car is actually a touring edition, which was not listed in the ad. For the fully loaded touring I thought 23k made sense. So I got it! And I looooove this car. Already put 400 miles on it this weekend. One thing I wasn't sure about...I was planning to bypass all extra warranties but the guy convinced me that the Platinum Protection bumper to bumper warranty was a good idea. He gave it to me for $1650, which he said was his cost. I'm still wondering if I got hosed...
Sounds like alot of people are waiting for the 2010... I was going to wait also then a rep for SET told me that dealers in FL would be lucky to get a handful of the new model before the 1st of 2010. I figured dealers are making deals on 2009 and I bet the dealers are going to mark up the 2010s ... not much dealin gonna be going on for a little while. Plus with all the availablity of the 09s I was able to get the color and pack I wanted and bla bla bla ... 2010s look good tho prob trade mine in at some point for one.
What are the details of the warranties? Did you get the car certified? Glad you finally got it ... sounds like a great deal and sounds like you made a choice your happy with!
The car is certified. I purchased an extended Platinum Care bumper-to-bumper warranty for 7yrs/100k. It covers all of the electrical in the car, not just powertrain. BUT, the guy told me I would not have an opportunity to purchase the warranty again--I had to buy it then and there. Is that true? I paid $1650 for it.
In case this helps people with pricing: I purchased a 2009 Prius package 6 with XM added for $25,400 before tax, title, etc. I traded a 2001 Audi A6 in OK condition in for $3500 and I was OTD for $24,129, sales tax is high in TN. The dealer had about 40 2009s in stock. I held firm to my offer of $21,500 with trade and only waffled in the end to get the XM added for $500. Still I am pleased with my deal and very pleased with the car. My guess is that prices should continue to fall as the 2010s hit the market.
Typical sales pitch. Check this thread. Don't know if it applies to used cars: http://priuschat.com/forums/sponsor...rius-extended-warranty-service-contracts.html
I paid $25700 for a 2009 package 6 about 10 days ago. The sticker was between 30 and 31k. Our sales tax is 6% which I need to pay soon and they got me for $189 for paperwork. They gave me book for my trade. There were 6 in stock at the time of my purchase.
I dont know how it is in CA but in FL the state regulates the warranty prices. SO there is NO discounts or neg. on the warranties.
Which do you think is the better deal? A touring package 6 for $26, 641 plus tax, license and fees or A standard package 6 with 17 inch wheels for $26272 + tax, license and fees I had originally wanted a touring so my questions are twofold: 1. are these 2 comparable for handling? 2. which is the better deal? Thanks!!
The touring would probably handle better becuase of the higher sping rates and you wont be getting the spoiler on the base. BTW neither of those deals is good. Invoice on a touring 6 is $25,736 and you should be able to get it for $1,000 under that. I have been emailing local dealers in LA and has some commitments at that price
I bought mine yesterday 2009 Package 5 for 24,600. I would have liked to have waited because I think prices will drop considerably, but would have needed to rent a car and any price savings would have been eaten up.
Working on buying a red Touring package 6. Emailing with dealers in Texas, Kansas, Arizona and Colorado - talking with the two local dealers here in Albuquerque. Rebate here in NM went up today from $750 to $1000. Best deal so far is from Kansas - OTD at $25323 including dealer documentation @ 129 and they will buy my train ticket! I've learned alot over the last month about sales tax. Here in NM there is no sales tax on new hybrids. Usually it is 3%. Can''t decide if I should gamble that the 18% price drop in Japan will make it to the states before the new 2010 show up for sale. I don't mind waiting for an even better deal. I'll see what the weekend brings. Ed in Albuquerque
If all goes well, it will be $22625 OTD ($21200 sales price) for a package 2. Maybe I could've done better by waiting another month or two, but I wanted choice of color and package.
