Car is all fixed. Drove out for about 10 miles and the triangle popped on for about 1 second. My guess is there is still a little air in the coolant, will check the level when it cools. But car drives beautifully and gets close to 50 mpg
Very nice looking Prius! Quite a bargain for sure. It speaks to the reliability of these cars when a failed transmission at 252k seems premature!
I think you'll find many transaxle's fail at around this mileage. It's just not posted. 250k miles is a lot of miles for a car.
Interesting because as you said, I rarely see postings on trans failures on these cars. Have the failures that you have seen been primarily city driven vehicles? I have read many stories of super high mileage Prii with original transmissions, but it seems like they have been mostly highway driven.
It's a mechanical part, it wears down. City or highway doesn't matter, it's rolling the dice after 200k
A 2006 Prius doesn't have a backup cam. My 2005 Prius has 260,000 miles and still kicking but has a walker at this point!
