It's been $3.91 at the corner Arco station for a week. Hmmm. Didn't I say something last year about $4.00 gas this year. Look for $5.00 gas next year. A year earlier than my original prediction. I think we'll see steady $5.XX in 2010.

Yeah, it seems like its going up about $.50 / year, so I think $4.50 next year and $5 in 2010. I think Malorn is predicting $2.50 later this year. :der:

Nearly got in an accident trying to get $3.87 gas in Santa Rosa, CA on Sunday. I live in San Francisco and it's $3.99 for discount gas, $4.05ish for the cheapest name brand gas.

Sate College, Pa - May 21, 2008 - for now still $3.79 and holding.. With oil hitting the $130/barrel price today, I am curious as to how soon it will be for the next price increase? Most likely very soon.. These are very dynamic and may I add irregular (CRAZY!!!) times concerning the energy market. Never seen anything like this before and I have driving for a lot of years.. It is like a shark feeding frenzy that is totally out of control.. And further to that it is so very damn confusing. You read or see on the news many articles, view points, etc.. as to what is driving this price spike and it still does not add up for me.. For instance, you hear the OPEC leaders state that they are not going to increase production because there is ample supply in the market place (no shortage) but yet you hear on the news reports that prices are rising out of control because there is a fear of a shortage.. CONFUSED??? Also you get varying opinions as to when we may run out of oil.. Yet, nobody seems to predict with any accuarcy when will there be an actual supply shortage because they don't turely know.. How many years out, etc??

Usually, prices will go up when there is a true (actual) shortage of a given product. I don't see that happening here at this time, still appears to be plenty of supply. What I see is people getting rich quick at our expense.. It costs an oil company approx $20 per barrel for finished refined product and it is selling for you know what. After all this is not a new product that we are dealing with. I am sure the oil companies have a very good handle on how to cost effectively refine the product. What I see is greed here...

Whew! - I'll stop venting and get off my soap box for now!!.. I know my rambling will not change the current big picture but I am doing my little part by owning and driving a Eco & Enviro friendly auto as you PCer's are- The Prius!!

Mobil Rt. 300 has reached $3.99, Sunoco on Rt. 52 has been holding steady at $3.97, Crooks at Snakville have reached the $3.99 mark as well. Haven't passed the Hess station today so no report on them.

that HAS been the way its gone, but i think we are in for a change in that pattern. i sense a faster rise without the drop down this fall. i think our oil supply is much tighter than anyone wants to let on.

I don't think it's the oil supply. I think it's the refining capacity. Or perhaps capacity is the wrong term. I think more could be refined. I think the refiners are capping capacity to keep supply low and prices high.

A few years back at a meeting of oil execs there was a powerpoint about the breaking point of the consumer. Their research showed that they could raise the price of gasoline to $5.00 a gallon before consumers rebelled. There's be a slow but steady rollercoaster increase to that point.

Fine. Let them. It will drive more people to hybrids and increase the demand for EV, alternative fuel, public transportation, living closer to work, etc. AND it will also drive more people to cost cutting living styles, installing PV, solar, wind, home gardening, recycling, etc.
