How much electric distance are the Primes getting?

100A at 12V is 1200W. A 1000W inverter that's 80% efficient will draw (1000W/.8)/12=104.2A at 12V. And since there will likely be draw-down at such high currents, it will probably be more than that.

I give up, I would never draw 100 Amps. i don't argue with your math, it's correct. I assume that the 100 A fuse is still in the Pos Post on the 12V Battery. why would I want to blow that? The car would then be inop.

At 100 Amps, you blow the fuse. that would be insane of anybody to put such a load on the inverter. 110 volts times 100 Amps = 11000 Watts 11KW ! Your concept is absurd. Again discussing a ONE KILO WATT
INVERTER.

 

Still only getting 36 EV mile range. It is hard with hills in the area and rain makes it hard because I need to run the eco defrost to defog my windshield because of the humidity. Then the puddles in the road slow down the car too. 36 EV mile range isn't bad. I wish I could achieve 42 EV mile range in order to get a one charge trip! I'll keep trying!

There's no fuse. If there were, you couldn't jump-start anyone's car. But you can, and I have.

Has anyone achieved a 42 EV mile range? Are any dudes getting near this distance? I know using the car as a generator isn't going to get you anywhere near that being parked. Lol

There's no need to protect the battery from over-current.

Jump-starting a car can easily draw 400A.

What has to be protected is the wires between the power supply and the battery, and the power supply itself. It is likely current-limited and fused. But that doesn't mean you can't draw a lot more from the battery terminals than the power supply can provide, it just means that the battery is being drained at a rate equal to the draw on the battery minus what the power supply is providing.

I'm not going to allow someone to put out false information without answering it. If I did, someone later could stumble upon it and (for example) incorrectly determine that you can't jump-start another car from a Prius - something I've done several times.

 

The Prius battery is rated at about 35 amps, you can tell this from its smaller size. Attempt any kind of draw for any reason and you will burn the battery up! This is why Toyota does not recommend jump starting a larger ICE vehicle. If you want to attempt a 400 ampere draw, be my guest.

"CCA 295A". That's cold ("Cold Cranking Amps") and it will do about double that when warm.

I did not realize that the warning Not to jumpstart a ICE vehicle was no longer included. I still will not do it.
