How Many Prius's In Your Workplace Parking Lot? (inc. yours)

I'm a truck driver. I drive out of a large terminal in south-central NJ. Believe me, I'm the only Prius there, although I've had people inquire about the Prius. There may still be hope.

At the hospital I work at, it has numerous lots.
In the lot that I park at, I see a Tideland Prius
on the weekends.
I'm sure the doctor's lot has quite a number
of Prii, but I'm too low on the totem pole to
park there.

In an office of roughly 1000 people just outside of Boston, we have one 1st gen. and my 2005 Prius.

I took 4 co-workers out to lunch in my Prius last week. They were all very curious how the car worked and curiosity turned to amazement when they realized the ICE had completely shut down at the first stop light. They were amazed even further to hear my mileage was averaging in the 50's. I had to laugh as one co-worker tried to justify why she drove a Durango SUV... and another said, "Hey, I should look into getting one"... Duh!

Well, in the 9 spaces around where I park in our garage, there are 4 Prius! I think there are around a 60 or so that park in our three level structure. Man, this car is so common in Santa Monica it kinda drives me crazy. I can't go to lunch without almost crashing into another silver one! I guess that's a good thing - better for the environment! When I was in Houston, I spent three days and didn't see one other! I guess that shows you what Texans think of the environment.

I'll go with None of the Above.

Though I greatly enjoyed the picture from the OCTA lot, my employer, a major subway operator in Chicago, provides NO parking spaces at our new headquarters for hundreds of transit employees. (Lockers and shower rooms for bicycles though.) There is a Green Line station next to the building, a bus route, and two commuter rail terminals within four blocks.

I have come to learn (largely through my prominent display of a Prius dealer training kit on my desk) that at least four of us own a hybrid. But with 1200 electric cars in our fleet, we rarely drive to work.

I'll keep an eye out at our parking lots at outlying stations ($2 per day) for the hybrid share there.

I work at the National Cancer Ins. at Ft. Detrick. There are a bunch of Priuses here (I know 2 other owners). I have seen several Honda hybrids also. On the Army side of the base there are some also (a lot of BIG SUVs and trucks too :roll: ). About 5,000 people work here.

In fact in and around Frederick, MD I see Priuses everyday. This morning, I saw a silver like mine and an Insight. The local dealer gets in 20+ Priuses per month.

I park in a smallish parking lot and so far mine is the only Prius there. I work at a fairly large University (UNC Chapel Hill), and yesterday I found myself walking all over campus and eventually lost count of all the Prii I saw in various lots. It seems like I see more and more of them every day.

 

how about gyms? i am a member of Bally Fitness Centers and at the Lacey club this morning there was a gold and lt. green classic, 2 silver, one white, one blue and one black plus my gray (tidelands) Prius.

that is 8 out of 78 cars. not bad eh?

on a side note, the blue one has personalized plates "GITREAL"

i wonder if that is a comment of the proliferation of SUV's in a world with a dwindling supply of gasoline to feed them.

 

hey just got home and guess what? have a new addition to the home parking lot. here is a pic of the newest hybrid member.

that makes two toyota hybrids in a 10 unit complex. that is 20 PERCENT!!

I live in a townhouse development with 60 units, and there are also currently two hybrids in our parking lot: my Prius and the 84 year old dude across the street with his Accord Hybrid.

 

well would be better if it were mine. asked him twice what he paid for it and he didnt say...sooo, i get the impression he paid over MSRP for it

Wow! I'm impressed by those of you with 9 or 10 Prii in your parking lots.

I work in a converted flour mill on the banks of the Mississippi near downtown Minneapolis. We share our parking lot with other office buildings in the area. Besides my 2005 Salsa, I've seen three others in the lot -- an '04 silver, and black and sort-of-silvery older models. I've never met any of the drivers, though.

I'm definitely seeing a lot more Prii in the past few months. There are two others parked within four blocks of my house, and I usually see 2-3 on the roads during my commute.

Well, my wife and I both work from home, and we have two Prii between us, so... two. Of course, if you look at it from a different angle, the parking lot is filled 100% with Prii!

Since we got ours, I've been parking in the "back fourty" of our parking lot. You know, have to keep out of reach of door slobs. Well anyway, after a couple days parking there, a first generation model appears there. Had the camera with me today so I couldn't resist pulling up next to him and snap a multi-generation photo. :mrgreen:

 

There are about fifteen to twenty Prius' here at the Santa Clara County Service center parking lot in San Jose, CA - old to new in addition to the multitude of Prius that the Conty Fleet services provide. My Prius lust actually began when I saw a 2005 Seaside Pearl out front of my building - now's there's two of them I've recently added a Colgan bra to be able to tell the two of us apart.

I'm over at KLA-Tencor, right across from some of the Cisco buildings on McCarthy Ranch. There are 3 in my immediate lot, more down the way and plenty over in our SJ campus. Very popular around here.
