How Many Prius's In Your Workplace Parking Lot? (inc. yours)

Mine was the only one for about 9 months, now there is my white one, a blue, a salsa, a driftwood and a tideland. We're a community clinic in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles area). We only have about 100 people working in the clinic.

I'm looking forward to having the very first one in a lot that must hold about 500 cars.

 

Not only am I the only one in my parking lot (Libby Dam Hydroelectric Project), I am pretty sure I am the only one in the town of Libby, Montana.

Living here is like living in a monster truck rally. The latest craze is having your (name any particularly large American SUV or pickup) "Escaladed" -- stock badges, grilles and nameplates removed and replaced with Escalade badges. . .

Over in the more affluent Whitefish/Kalispell area 90 miles away, I know the Toyota dealer where I ordered mine has sold some. Of course, the real Escalade-per-capita ratio over there is much higher too.

No others, I'm sure. A few hundred people work there, on three shifts, but I'd have noticed another.

I haven't seen much curiosity concerning my car, either.

I was the proud owner of the only one in the parking lot, then I saw #2. Funny thing is that the guy who drives that gets there earlier so always parks way up in the front, while I'm towards the back. So, I hear folks around the water cooler chattin about his prius and how cool it is. Makes me feel good.

I've got the only Prius at our call center but there is one Honda Accord Hybrid. I enjoy comparing my 50 MPG to her 35. :mrgreen:

Actually - I think I've only see 2 or 3 other Prii locally. My poor Prius is lonely.

 

I am also in IT and the Lord High God of all Geeks in an office of hundreds of geeks, too.

My Prius is the lone cheese in a lot of primarily GM (our big client) and Chrysler (our other big client) cars and SUVs.

I spend a LOT of time at the DaimlerChrysler HQ in Auburn Hills Michigan. It's pretty cool to tool silently through the "visitor" parking deck silently and draw stares from people who can appreciate the technology of the Prius.

A few weeks ago, I saw a couple guys getting out of an identical to mine, Salsa Prius. As I silently rolled up to them, I opened the driver's window and said, "I wouldn't park that thing in here if I were you." The driver smiled and could tell I was joking.

 

Hospital in SE Mass. About 100 cars per day.

There are 3 Prii. 2 2004, 1 2002. There was a 4th one but he changed jobs. He was a psychiatrist and he told me in his neighborhood, in South East Mass, that there were 7 Prii in his neighborhood. All were older ones.

 

we share our parking with the Dept of Health and theyu have about 7-10 fleet Priuses. other than them there is mine and one classic

Well in the Docs parking lot there are now 9 regulars and maybe 10 there is a new Driftwood that has new temp plates. There are three classics the rest G3's. Sometimes we get 3 or 4 in a row. It is now hard to find my car in the lot as there are 3 Millennium Silvers. Often I find them parked together and I have to look at the plate holder to id my car. I got mine in Helena and the rest are from Olympia and Centralia so at least I can pick my car out. In the hospital over all there are at least 4 more! There may be more the parking lot is large I don't see all parts of it and some are visitors. Olympia is embracing the Prius. At my office there are 6 including that new Driftwood parked in the on call Surgeon spot. It is a movement! Right on Right on Right on! :mrgreen:

I work at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, Ca. (It's kinda a famous cancer research center, so I'd image that SOME of you have heard of it!)

My particular building has about 3,000 employees or so. I've spotted 4 Prii in the lot including my own. One of them is the older model.

I lost track skimming the thread; who'll take the prize for the highest Prii/employee ratio? Here's mine:

Total Staff: 230
Prii: 2 first gen, 3 second gen (4 if you count the Chairperson's of the Board, who's only here for board meetings; hopefully I haven't forgotten any)... and I don't even have mine yet! (Deposit placed, on the bubble for the next Salsa Red AM that comes to my dealer.)

So by the most generous tally (7 total including mine), that's 3% Prius drivers. Not too shabby.

And that's not subtracting all the vanpool riders, if we're counting other fuel conservation green-ness in this tally. There are approx. 30 vanpoolers across 4 vans; could the vans count as honorary Prii? ;-)

Obviously this is an eco-friendly bunch. It's almost cheating, considering where I work--a small oceanographic research institution.

OK can I just count the Doc's lot? We have way under 200 Medical staff! I have to say none of us car pool because none of us keep anything like regular hours. I do have to say that SUVs in the lot have been replaced by the Prius. That is a really good thing to say about my colleagues. We also have 3 Honda Civics in the lot and we need to applaud them. No Insites but one of the nurses on L&D has one.

 

maybe we should look at what city has the highest Prius per capita rating. i bet Olympia would be high. they would win hands down if we counted state vehicles

 

2 2nd gen (both silver), 2 1st gen (CalTrans and gold), and 3 Civic hybrids (gold and 2 white). Monrovia, CA. When I drive around for lunch, I know of at least 4 2nd gen (1 seaside, 2 silver, 1 white) and 2 1st gen (white and gold) and 1 Insight (gray) in the parking lots of nearby companies.

I've only seen 5 Pri' in the last 2 months in the city of Toronto (pop 3.5 million). No way I would ever find another one in a parking lot with mine unless it's a Prius Get-together, like the one planned for Saturday.

However, I've found that some fleets are buying the Prius, like my office's IT group (in a different part of the city - not MY parking lot), and the CoOp car group I was part of (Autoshare) until I bought my own car
