My Prius took less than one week from being at the Port to being at the dealer for delivery.

Ok, Thanks - the Toyota site currently says "Vehicle may be in transit", so I'll take that to mean it's still in the "Processing" step. Sadly, toyotatracker.com reports that it no longer works due to some recent computer system changes on the Toyota side of things - sounds like that was a very handy site when it was working!

Goos to know that a date may actually show up on the Toyota site - even if not fully accurate - at least I now know that that is a sign of movement.

    Thanks Much!

Looks like you're in CA, so I could see that happening. I'm on the East Coast, but have been working with a dealer in Ohio (which seems to have Toyotas delivered through west coast ports, from what I've read), so I anticipate it taking a while longer to be hauled most of the way across the country.

Hi! New member but I'll put my info in.

I legit saw the reveal last year and IMMEDIATELY knew I needed one. Hah

I put 3 deposits down at 3 dealers near me in January of 2023.

In May I had still 0 contact me. All together they had received maybe 4 cars collectively.

So, I just literally went to Toyotas website and searched inventory daily.

About middle May I found the exact one I wanted (Wind Chill Pearl, gray interior, Limited-AWD) and emailed the dealer.

Evidently, it was an order someone backed out of. I put a deposit down same day.

From there it took about two weeks since they said it was already on the boat.

Picked up June 6. Only downside, I drove 3 hours and to another state to pick it up. WORTH IT.

It did have extras I didn't think i needed but now I love. Like the advanced park and pano camera. It has the video rearview mirror which I can honestly say, I have never used. So, it was more than a stock Limited AWD but paid MSRP plus regular dealer paperwork fees.

Let me know if you need anymore details.

Good luck to all grabbing one! My tips is just search inventory and send emails!

GSO NC - went in to get on list Jan 23, offered a partial payment or deposit, they said not necessary. Was told it could be a year, but they would call me if anything came up. Told them I was also interested in a used minivan in the mean time. Never heard from them again on either. Ironically, at another desk, a guy was trying to get on the list for a new Tundra. They told him they wouldn't even take his name bc they were all spoken for for the next 20 months. Today, they have a couple dozen new Tundras sitting on the lot

Sounds like a scam dealer. Although they didn't take a deposit, if they did, they'd have to show you which car they had earmarked for you.

I kinda think in this instance it wasn't so much a scam, but that they became way too arrogant in 2021-22 w/ a shortage of inventory, full sticker, high pre-owned prices, etc.. They thought the gravy days would last forever and now they're stuck with inventory when they could've been working the list

I just wanted to look at one first but no dealers in my area (Denver-ish) had one. I contacted 3 dealers and told them of my interest.
One put me on their "wish" list....

Well, about 3-5weeks later the salesman called and had one, just one. I thought it was a pre-order or something.
We went to look and to my amazement it was available so I told them to write it up. Done and done.
It was silver and AWD, just what I was looking for so I guess the "wish" list worked.

    No dealer surcharge

On August 29 I went to the dealer the had 3 allocated to them but not the color or trim I wanted. I showed them that Toyota of North Miami were getting one just like the one I as looking for, I could not believe there was not already a deposit on it so we worked out the price and I immediately put down $1000 deposit and was told mid September arrival but it took 2 weeks. They also gave me a fair trade in value for my 2010 prius with 220,000 miles.

It came in on Sept 11th, so like 3 week later, and I picked her up on Sept 11. Love the car.

My 5th gen was scheduled for manufacture late last month, but the dealer notified me it would be delayed due to "running out of parts supply". Given that Toyota is extremely good at forecasting parts supplies, I think it more likely related to this recent news (translated):

[A] system glitch occurred because some of the servers that process parts orders became unavailable. As for the background, regular maintenance work was carried out on August 27th, the day before the problem occurred. During this maintenance work, data accumulated in the database was deleted and organized, but an error occurred due to insufficient disk space for the work, which caused the system to stop. Since these servers were operating on the same system, a similar problem occurred on the backup machine, making it impossible to switch over, leading to the suspension of factory operations. After that, on August 29th, we transferred the data to a server with larger capacity, and the system was restored and factory operations resumed. We would like to inform you that we have identified the root cause and countermeasures for the above problem through reproducible verification.

I'm not allowed to post links yet, so if you'd like to read the press release, you should navigate yourself to global.toyota/jp/newsroom/corporate/39732550.html (o, if you're like me and can't read Japanese, then plug that URL into google translate!)

Picked up a red LE today. I live in VA, and picked it up from a dealership in OH. Learned of it in an October allotment, literally the day the dealer got the allotment list back in late-August. Drove 400 miles back from OH in it today, so have become pretty familiar with the car already, Lol. Really liking it! (Only complaint is that I miss the split rear window - backing up is now pretty much reliant on the backup camera, as you can't see immediately behind the car through the rear window.) Was kinda concerned about the lack of a rear wiper - drove home pretty much the entire way in the rain today, and puzzlingly, never had any water collecting on the rear window. Some kind of magic going on back there!

The more raked the rear window, the less need for a window wiper, due to the angle and the vortex of the air hitting it. Think about all the sedans out there with no wipers. They don't need them at all. Difference is that the Prius is a hatchback, but still no need for a rear wiper.

Called many dealers in Iowa/Minnesota area. Put my name on several lists - nothing down. Nothing heard. Called Rochester Toyota in May - said they have a LE there now - red - didn't really want red but bought it - it is spectacular a color - beautiful. Hit buck deer 9/11 - $12000 damage. Fixed it. Wanted to trade my wife's 2018 - Found white XLE in Winona, MN - glass top didn't want - bought it anyway few days ago. No premium. keeping both. 2000 miles on red, 200 miles on white. My body shop did a fantastic job on the red one -- not happy to take lower selling price in case someone wants it. I'll get another XLE. I notice Toyota dealers treat the Prius as a bad stepchild. Also, they have bad product knowledge, but I have now found a great one. I'm really quite happy.

I got mine on the same day I went looking for one. It was the only one in St. Louis and I put my money down asap to hold it. I called every dealer in St. Louis and the region and this was it. I completely lucked out.

Decorah Dave- what do you mean my 'bad stepchild'? I would like to know, as I've already decided never to go to the service dept from which I bought my Prius- I would rather drive 20 mins more for better service.

The salesmen I've worked with don't have good product knowledge. Since they don't have any on the lot, they say I'll put you on the waiting list and it will be 8 months to a year to get one. Since they have many of the other models, they think it's too much work to answer questions. I did just meet a guy, 16 years with Toyota who really cares and is quick to find answers for you. He set the red LE up for my wife with Iphone remote start, etc. He really cares. The Rochester Toyota dealer service department is great in my opinion after having them check the computers after my wreck. Everyone has a specialized job - meaning one guy checks tires, another changes oil. I think they service tens to hundreds of cars every day. The service adviser does really what her title says. Also, my Iphone reports what stage the car is being worked on. That's professional. Price? - I think their service rate is about $150 per hour. Big city rates. Our 8250 people town is $80 / hr.

I ended up with 2023 Prius XLE AWD. Midnight black. It felt like it was meant to be. Last one in St. Louis and I got it. Thankfully no bidding wars occurred or I would have been out really quick. IMG_2716.jpg IMG_2717.jpg IMG_2718.jpg

DecorahDave- congrats on finding a dealer that cares. Although I haven't been there for many years, my family is from Rochester! Also, please post a pic of your Prius!
