I typically share the cost per 100 miles. They typically ask how long to charge? About one to two hours after arriving at home. About $3.00 per 100 miles augmented with some free chargers around town. About 10-20 minutes on the road to reach next SuperCharger during bathroom and sack snack break. About $10.00 per hundred miles. A 100% charge is done overnight for the first segment of a cross country trip. A +3 hour drive followed by 1 - 2 hour, Supercharger segments. Maintenance costs are harder to quantify so I count the 5-6 moving drivetrain parts versus the hundreds of engine and automatic transmission parts. No catalytic converter to check or at risk of theft. Bob Wilson ps. Recently updated costs per higher prices.
my ten year old pip is getting lower and lower as time goes by. 80k on the clock and zero repairs. one 12v, one set of tires and an oil change every year. the only thing that prevents it from going lower is the darn cost of electrons. currently at 32 cents
Isn't that the only realistic way? and if you had a pre-2019 Tesla with free supercharging, coupled with PV solar at HOME? Definitely the way to go .
