How do I argue against an anti-foreign car person ?

That occurs a lot in the USA also.

 

My prof in transportation engineering says that there is already a single-person "flying car" prototype out there.

I don't actually believe that the general population will *EVER* have a flying car however, because based on what is on the highways now, at least half the population cannot even manage TWO-dimensional travel.

Introducing a third axis would increase everyone's risk exponentially, not to mention the fact that when something goes wrong, everything will be accelerating at 9.81 m/s^2 in the -z direction.

Ugly.
