We picked up a few vices from our long residence in the Confederacy, but I can assure you that sweet tea and grits were not among them--not that cornbread stuffing in a turkey either. Crawfish boils, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, crawfish pie, squirrel/duck/whatever-you-shot-and-weren't-sure-what-to-do-with gumbo, okra, black eye peas, various kinds of barbecue, have been added to our menu. But I still put ketchup on my hamburger! I remember the shock of a group celebration hamburger cookout in my first few months where the supervisor provided everything...but not ketchup since it never occurred to him that someone would want ketchup on a hamburger. I thought he was messing with me at first...I eventually scrounged up a few packets in my car. And finding maple sticks down there could be a real challenge.

Since we moved back to the midwest we've been ribbed about our reflexive instructions when ordering that our tea be unsweetened. The servers look at us like we just escaped from an asylum and friends remind us that, "Nobody serves sweetened tea around here."

Besides, that's not tea, it's cold syrup with a little tea in it. They have to heat the water to dissolve the sugar, because it is well past the solubility limit of sugar in tap water...even in the South during summer. Could be related to the diabetes epidemic down there.

As part of an internet show promoting the focus EV, they had contestants trying to win one do various stunts. A friend of mine segment had them pedaling bikes to turn a blender to make smoothies.:) It was gilligan's island technology at its finest. I want that set up for making blender drinks on camping trips. It sounds much bettter than the gasoline blender anouther friend has.

Here is a guy pedaling. If you goes 4 hours at that load he will make a kwh.
