This matches my experience visiting Fred's TDI forum. You can easily filter out the 'bigots' and soon find the real people.

I joined so long ago, it feels like forever. (In a good way.) (Mostly.) It's been a great community, and an excellent source of reliable information.

I'm still here because I still need to know things about my car, and because I've made some genuine friends. The witty repartee is a bonus.

Two days ago, I noticed a new forum at: Inside EVs | Electric Vehicle News, Reviews, and Reports. Then I revisited the forum at: HybridCars.com | Auto alternatives for the 21st century. Since I recently started hanging on Facebook, there are associated groups with BMW i3 and Prius Prime. Finally, I posted my oil testing results with "Prius Technical Stuff", the Yahoo group. In the interest of contemplating my navel:
    • Insideevs - excellent news source but pure EV biased.
    • Hybridcars - another excellent news source but more hybrid based.
    • Facebook, BMW i3 - "look, a squirrel"
    • Facebook, Prius Prime - looks fine, my new ride
    • Prius Technical Stuff - legacy back to the Gen-1 and slowly catching up
    • mybmwi3 - active members with technical knowledge
I also have several different kinds of shirts in the closet and chest of drawers and at least 3-5 pairs of shoes depending upon whether I or my wife is counting.

So we have choices and where we spend our time ... well it matches our cognitive style.
